Teen Maternity Clothes

oh my goodness. i read this on a different board but heard about it on the news this morning....forever 21 has a new line of maternity clothes that they are marketing for teens. they are only launching the line in a few states with the highest percentage of teen pregnancy.

i like shopping at foever 21 but now i just dont know what to think. i understand that teen pregnancy happens, i am not too sure how i feel about this.

thoughts?

  • Yeah, I saw this on GP too.

I'm not sure my thoughts....as this store is MAINLY geared towards teens, I don't think it's right.

However, I do shop there sometimes and will DEF. shop their maternity since it'll be pretty cheap, I'm assuming.

So, teens aren't the only ones shopping there...shiiit, I'm almost 29 and shop there. haha

  • Big Smile I saw this on another board, but they actually look pretty cute! In fact, I wish they had it when I was pregnant. I know their demo is on the younger side, but I am 31 and would get cheap cute mat clothes from them in a heartbeat! They maybe trying to expand their demo and brand

  • it sucks if teens are their market...but i know a ton of ladies in their 20s-30s that shop there. i am sick of  a lot of the clothes being "old lady" maternity clothes and am looking forward to having some cooler (and cheaper) stuff next time i'm pregnant. i will definitely be shopping there

  • Considering I've been buying all of my maternity clothing from F21 anyway (tons of maxi dresses, babydoll tops, empire waist dresses), I don't see what the big deal is. Yes, they are first targeting states with a high teen pregnancy rate, but I don't think it's encouraging teens to get pregnant.  To me that's the same argument as saying supplying teens with condoms will encourage them to have sex.  I don't agree with that, but that's a completely different argument.

I went in to a F21 store yesterday but forgot to look for the maternity line.  I'll have to check it out next time I'm in the store, because I would definately purchase something!

  • I agree with everyone else....it's not cool to market specifically for teens. However, I wore shirts from forever 21 during both of my pregnancies because they have cute tops that are loose fitting or empire waist. The best part is, I can still wear them because the weren't maternity.
  • We're not TTC, but I'm excited to have youthful maternity clothes available when we start.

This. I only had one pair of maternity jeans and one maternity shirt I got as a gift. When we have another, F21 will be my main spot for sure. Maternity clothes aren't very cute elsewhere.

motherhood has gotten better, but a lot of their prices are outrageous. they have the only jeans that really fit me well, though
