I'm *growing* something!!

(no, not a baby... ::shudder::)

I started a few green bean seeds last week and they've already begun sprouting! Details are in my blog. I'm soooo not a gardener, but thought I'd give these a shot since I already had them around. Woot! I hope they keep growing!

Maybe I'll really shock myself and learn how to can something before the fall.

Re: I'm *growing* something!!

  • NICE!  Congratulations you green thumb girl!
  • Be careful, it is contagious! Four years ago I was buying some fresh basil for pasta sauce. I decided it was too expensve to buy little pots of it all the time, so I replanted the little plants more spread out in a pot. They did really well out on my balcony. Then I got an allotment and now I grow Loads of things.

    Enjoy!

  • Beans are pretty tough. Mine are flowering up a storm right now.

    Blanching and freezing is much easier than canning. Although green bean pickles are pretty good, too.

    A freezer I can handle. :) Do you make gb pickles? A friend of mine brought some to a picnic a few years ago and they were so good!

  • I haven't made them yet, but my mom does. She knows all the preserving secrets!

    Pickles in general are pretty easy - the vinegar keeps you from accidentally poisoning yourself.

    Haha, a valuable addition, no doubt. ;)
