I planted 4 cucumber plants on June 4th and my plants are doing great...green, spreading/huge, flowering...but I have NO cucumbers yet. Is this normal? This is my first time planting cucumbers. I am in zone 5b. TIA!
Re: No cucumbers yet?
Are you getting only male flowers or are you getting both male & female flowers?
If you;ve got both sexes & aren't getting any cukes, then you may have a pollination problem & might need to hand pollinate or attract pollinators to your garden.
PP's suggestions are good.
As a point of reference, I'm in Metro Detroit also. I planted "burpless" and "bush crop" cucumbers Memorial weekend. I picked my first burpless on July 9th. The bush crops are just starting to come in.
You planted about a week after me, so I'd keep watching them, you may have some starting soon!
Oh boy...I had no idea about this cross-pollinating thing! I will have to look in to it...
Good to know, Moe - I will keep watching them!
Thank you!!
