Fun vines/climbing plants?
We have two posts for our deck where I want to use a potted climbing vine. I was originally thinking honesuckle for the scent, but these will be down in a play area for our kids so I thought it could be fun to do something for them. Either some fun colors, something they could eat (snap peas?), etc. Any ideas?
Re: Fun vines/climbing plants?
be aware that anything with flower can attract bees.
this doesn't personally bother me, but some ppl seem to be shocked by it and thus worth mentioning it.
I don't know if you can still grow bean in your area (I'll leave that for someone in the PNW to comment on), but if clematis grows in your zone they have lovely brightly colored flowers.
If the weather gets hot again you might lose snap peas if you're not very careful about watering.
If you're interested in perennials, maybe a clemantis...
grapes, jasmine, and Yellow Lady Banks Rose Bush.
All of them listed above do not have thorns.
