What is the dumbest purchase you ever made?

I traded my 1 year old brand new 2005 Mustang GT for a 2006 Mercury Mariner in 2006.  I loved that Mustang - it was black with red and black leather interior and a stick shift.  The thing was awesome but it was crazy expensive.  I decided to be responsible, traded it in, using about $4k in equity that I had on the lease (which is unheard of but the cars were so popular and there was a 3 month waiting list to get one still so I actually had mine sold in the parking lot of the dealership before I even went inside to some guy) and bought the Mariner.  Which I hated driving (even though it was a perfectly nice car and I loved the interior) but after 4 months, my dog puked inside and that was the final straw for some reason and I turned it in.  I didn't actually lose too much because of the equity from the Mustang that I had already used and bought a 2006 Miata convertible.  Enter completely unpractical car #2.  At least I kept that one for a little over 2 years.

The engraved Mont Blanc pen I bought Alex for his 30th birthday. It cost a small fortune and it has been sitting (taunting me) on his nightstand for the past two years. The only time I've seen him use it was during the signing of our Ketubah. He hinted for years about how much he wanted one.

So much for that gift.

My current car, a grand prix. I hated my sunfire a few years ago and I don't know why I let myself get talked into this. Now I am too close to paying it off to start over on payments for a vehicle.

$800 shoe insoles that I got conned into because my arches were killing me when I was running.

Long story short, I panicked after I bought them and hassled my way up to the district manager to be able to get a refund.  Thank God.

The DOC at our wedding.  She was awful and the manager of the inn where the wedding was did most of the job the DOC was paid to do anyway.

I once bought a clock that looked like a leather cushion.

When you look at something and say "that is either really cute/quirky or really weird", but you can't quite decide... PUT IT DOWN! It's weird.

I returned it the next day, but still get teased about "the pillow clock" by DH like 4 years later.
