Hello. I'm sorry I haven't posted in so long but I still lurk. ;-) I am wondering if any of you have ideas or favorite places (within driving distance) that you think would be good to go for our anniversary. It's in a few weeks and we just want a weekend or an overnight. TIA
Re: Anniversary
I also love the n. conway/jackson area.
we used to go there for our birthdays and stay at the Christmas farm Inn.
This year we may go out to Western MA and stay at Porches Inn, hike Mt. Greylock and check out art galleries and shops.
Newport, RI is also nice. I stayed at the Inn at newport Beach, and it is walking distance to the cliffwalk and the beach is across the street.
BFF LOVES N. Conway.
Portsmouth is kind of cute, but we only did a day trip there on our way back from Maine.
I also like Newport. And of course, NYC.
We did a trip last month to the Cape, we stayed at the Carpe Diem in Provincetown, and LOVED it. They have an amazing warm breakfast in the morning, I loved the poppyseed crepes and danishes. In the evening they do a wine and cheese hour and you can either mingle with other guests or choose a cozy spot on the patio.
They also have a spa on-site with complimentary steam room and jacuzzi as well as various spa packages for an additional cost. Each room was named after a writer and had adorable personal touches.
We had dinner at the Lobster Pot and Victor's and both were delicious, I definitely liked Victor's better though. We rented bikes one day and rode around the town and to the beach, they also have whale-watching and Commercial street was great (we went to a hysterical drag show one night!).
We spent the night at the Millenium Hotel in Boston because that was where we stayed the night of our wedding.
A cool place especially if you like beer is the Woodstock Inn in Woodstock, NH. It is a cute B&B, they brew their own beer and they make a killer breakfast!!
