Foodie Question For the Day

If you were going to open a "Los Angeles Style" restaurant, what 5 things would you put on the menu that would totally represent Los Angeles cuisine?

You know, Chicago has hot dogs, etc........Emily and I went to a lecture about this last nght.

Re: Foodie Question For the Day

  • I'm not sure of specific foods but I think there would have to be a variety of ethnicities represented.  Just my opinion though.  Now let me think of foods.
  • Japanese - sushi

Thai - satay, pad thai, curry dishes

Salads - all kinds, waldrof, heard that strawberry & feta are good complimentary flavors (haven't yet tried it myself), fusion style salads - thai noodles

    Seafood

Vegan - Kosher - some things I'd consider special requests...tofu

....sorry, this turned out to be a food brain dump...hope this helps!  LOL!

  • Sushi, steak, curry, taco's and some really expensive cupcakes :)

    Boo - now I am hungry :(

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I'm not a chef by any means, but I think that I would have a small restaurant that looked more like a home than an actual restaurant.  The menu would be a choice of three three-course prix fixe meals - that's it.  I'd change it three or four times a week - based on what I found at the local farmer's markets.  Local, seasonal ingredients.  Sustainably raised meat.  Lots of wine.  No pretension - just good food.
  • I would love to do prix fixe dinners! Or like My Father's Office - a great bar with good food.

A few things I think are very LA:

    speciality pizzas

    funky sushi

some asian/mexican fusion thing like tamales or tacos

    Hmmmmmmmmm................

  • U gotta do Fusion....
