Colorado nestie needing help.

Hi ladies. I'm a Colorado nestie trying to plan a trip to San Diego the last week of October.  Any avdice on where to stay or not to stay?  Also where to eat and what to do thats not your typical tourist stuff?  We're planning on the zoo and Sea World.  My DS is 12 if that helps.

Thanks so much.

Re: Colorado nestie needing help.

  • I'm going to Colorado on Saturday!  DH's mom lives in LoDo and his sister lives in Morison so we are going to be spending time in Denver mostly.  I'm really excited.  We are going to the Padres/Rockies game Monday night.

Sorry, totally did not answer your question about San Diego.  I would stay in the Gaslamp area or at the beaches.  Mission Beach is more family orientated than Pacific Beach or Ocean Beach but any of those are fine and near Sea World.  The zoo is closer to downtown.

There are so many good places to eat I would narrow down where you are staying and then we can give you good suggestions on that.

  • Hmm, what are you looking for in a hotel and restaurants?
  • here are some of my favorite things to do in SD that may not be in the typical tourist guides:

     - hiking in Torrey Pines

    - rent boogie boards or kayaks at La Jolla shores

    - rent bikes and ride around Mission Bay

    - North Park neighborhood has some great local restaurants: Urban Solace, Jays Gastropub

    - If you have a sweet tooth check out any of these places: Extraordinary Desserts, Heaven Sent Desserts or Azucar (Ocean Beach neighborhood).

-we have tons of Farmer's Markets, one every day of the week, at least, in different neighborhoods.

    - take the ferry to Coronado and rent bikes

    - Little Italy is a fun neighborhood and there is a place called La Pensione for lodging. Short trolley ride to Gaslamp or Old Town from there for night dining.
