Hi ladies! I am hoping you can help me out here. I have made reservations with the Four Seasons Troon North for Sep 5-10. I am sooo excited to lounge at this fantanstic resort. We are looking to relax, enjoy great food & drinks, some shopping and a bit of adventure. I know it will be very, very hot during our trip. Last year my husband and I were in Scottsdale, we went Old Town, a Diamond Backs game, Cardinals game & a day trip to Sedona where we went on a Pink Jeep Tour. This time around I'm looking for a few more fun ideas around the Scottsdale area and maybe for a day trip, any suggestions? I am a total foodie, i would love to hear about any local specialty shops and great restaurants. Thanks in advance!
Oh, I was also thinking of maybe doing a spa day, any reccomendations?
Re: Scottsdale Vacation
That is a great resort and if you are looking for an amazing spa and food you should check theirs out!
I am personally a HUGE fan of Elements restaurant at The Sanctuary resort in Paradise Valley, you should go there if you are foodies! The Executive Chef, Beau MacMillan won Iron Chef America and has his own show on the food network.
As for as spas (other than the one at the 4 Seasons) I L-O-V-E the spa at the Camelback Inn, also in Paradise Valley (about 2 mintues from the Sanctuary resort and about 20 minutes from the 4 Seasons).
If you want a fun, casual place to eat, North Scottsdale and Cave Creek (just north of where you are staying) have some awesome old western/cowboy places that are soooo fun! There is one really close to the seasons, I think it is Pinnacle Peak Patio. I also really love the Buffalo Chip Saloon, they have live Bull Riding on Friday nights which is a lot of fun.
If you like the golf, you should check out Troon North Golf CLub, it is just right up the street from where you are staying (I got married there, so I am partial). They also have a great restaurant there!
Have a great time!
Here's some of our favorite restaurants in the Scottsdale area.
Prado is an amazing Spanish restaurant at the Intercontinental Montelucia resort in Paradise Valley. The MBar at Prado is also a great place to get a drink and they have half price tapas at happy hour. They also have a good Sunday brunch. It's on Lincoln & Tatum
Olive & Ivy is across from the Scottsdale Fashion Square and has a really cute atmosphere, great lunch place haven't been there for dinner yet.
Kazimierz World Wine Bar is in downtown Scottsdale, it's kinda hard to find but it's associated with Cowboy Chao and you can find it from there, it's like a mix between a wine cave and a underground bar, they have live jazz some nights but what we like the most about it is the huge wine list(if you're wine drinkers) and chocolate fondue.
Loco Patron is my favorite lunch place right in Old Town. It's pretty warm now but we usually sit on the patio, they have some great margaritas and lunch specials.
Ocean Club is in the Kierland area by the Westin. It's on the pricy side but their lobster mashed potatos are worth it for me.
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. DH is the foodie, I'll see what other ones he can come up with.
I highly recommend the restaurant below, Noca. It is located on Camelback road, near Biltmore Fashion Park. Some of the best food I've had in Phoenix.

If you want some great gourmet Mexican food try Barrio Cafe. It is in Central Phoenix. Great food, including table side guacamole and delicious margaritas. It gets really busy, so get there early or expect a wait.

As someone else mentioned, I also really like Elements at the Sanctuary Resort. Great food and lovely views of the valley from Camelback Mountain.
What about a day trip to Jerome or Prescott?
Have a fantastic trip!
I looooove the Lamar Day Spa, although that might be a bit out of your way. http://www.thelamar.com/
I also always recommend the Sunday champagne brunch at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. http://www.thescottsdaleresort.com/Dining/dining_palmcourt.asp
