We are beginning to plan our vacation for next summer/early fall. I would like to do something outdoors, ocean or mountain, I am open to ideas. Do any of you have suggestions? I have found that the best places I have been have come from referrals from other people. Thanks!
Re: Vacation ideas....
Ocean- Outer Banks in North Carolina.
Skyline drive- Virginia
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico :-)
I live in Oregon and the coast is beautiful!
Cape Cod is wonderful, as is Newport, RI. Two of my favorite summer destinations, as I'm from New England and these are close by for me.
DH and I spent 4th of July weekend in Napa Valley, CA and it was gorgeous. I loved it and we had such fun touring the wineries. The weather is so beautiful out there.
Depending on how long you have to spend for your vacation, you could do a few days in Napa Valley and then up to Oregon / Seattle....
My vote goes to either the East or far West coasts of Canada. Avoid central Canada though
I humbly recommend my native Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania.
I grew up near Ohiopyle, and the area boasts whitewater rafting, miles and miles of hiking and bike trails, camping, two Frank Lloyd Wright houses, and lots of historical sites within a 15-mile radius!
The Nemacolin Woodlands Resort is supposed to be awesome if you're more the stay-somewhere-nice types. I've never stayed there, but I've been in and out to get some Starbucks, check out the art gallery, go skiing in the winter, etc.
