Came back to announce DS #2 arrival

Hi Ladies! ?He finally arrived! ?And after 2 days with no name we finally decided on Colin Micah. ?This is his birth story if interested.

Our baby boy was born Wednesday morning 07.14.10 at 5:18am at 39 weeks 1 day after 26 hours of labor. I started having contractions around 3:30am Tuesday morning when my son came in our room for some strange reason. I put him in the bed with us and then realized that I was having contractions. I tried going back to sleep because I didn't think they were real and I couldn't sleep through them. So I got up to start timing them and see if there was anything to it. They ended up being anywhere from 4-8 minutes apart. So after a few hours of that, I finally woke up DH and told him that he might not be going to work that day and that he needed to go to Walmart and buy a pump to blow up the pool. So DH got up around 5:30-6:00 and went to Walmart. ?

I actually ended up waking my parents who were staying with us around 4:00am by accident so they made a pot of coffee and pretty much stayed up until he was born. My contractions went on all day and it was pretty uneventful. They actually ended up spreading out to be about 30 minutes apart at one point and we thought that the whole thing was a false alarm. We tried walking, but it was way too hot outside. So we came inside and tried nipple stimulation to get things going again. The stimulation worked, but they were really hard short contractions that stopped once we stopped so I figured that we wouldn't see LO for another couple of days or so. ?

I napped between the contractions but couldn't sleep throught them. Although they were 30 mins apart, they were still really strong and lasting about 1 min to 1 min 20 secs long. All of a sudden (and I don't know what time because I didn't really look at the clock the entire time) they went from 30 mins to 4 mins to 2 mins apart. At this point I was begging DH to take me to the hospital and I didn't care if I had a c-section, I was in too much pain. DH called the midwife around 1:30 am and she got to the house around 2am. She was really good at calming me down and I wasn't as histerical as I was before. A couple of minutes after getting here she called the 2nd midwife to come and before I knew it I felt the urge to push. With every contraction I felt I needed to pee, so I kept going to the bathroom and my MP came out during one of those times. ?

Nothing was comfortable, so I ended up on the floor leaning over the birthing ball on my knees. I ended up staying that way until DS was born. The midwife told me that I pushed about an hour and she had me and my DH catch the baby. He was born in his sack so my water never broke. I didn't have any tears or anything! He's absolutely perfect and hasn't cried all day. He was 7lbs 2oz. It was the hardest thing I have ever done (the pushing part anyway) but I don't regret it for one minute and will do it again in a heartbeat. Oh, by the way, I didn't use the pool at all. I got in twice and it didn't relieve any pain and I was really uncomfortable, so I didn't do the water birth part. ?

  • Wow - congratulations!!! That is an amazing story! So you had a C-section before? Is that what HBAC stands for? I had a C-section, and am very curious. Thanks and congrats!

VBAC = Vaginal Birth After Cesarean?

HBAC = Home Birth After Cesarean (which is obviously also a VBAC just in your home instead of at the hospital) :)
