This gas thing is really annoying....

I actually NEED to get gas, and there is not a station I can find that doesn't have 8 bajillion people in line. I don't care about price, it is what it is, but I kinda need to fill up. Almost on E.....

Here's hoping its better in the morning.

Re: This gas thing is really annoying....

  • No kidding--I heard on the radion this morning that they're actually starting to ration/restrict it in some places.  Guess I better top off at lunch just in case.
  • that is so crazy!!! I topped off on tuesday, but that won't last me too much longer.
  • I got gas this morning- it actually shot up 11 cents at the local gas station overnight...at 9pm it was 3.58...this morning at 7 am, it was 3.69. It's supposed to get over $4 and get there fast!! glad I filled up early-- soo many people were getting there as I was leaving! sheesh, annoying huh?
  • I'm confused... I thought I hard just a couple days ago that gas was down to almost $103 a barrel... why are the prices sky-rocketing? (Yes, I work from home and practically live under a rock.)  OH does it have to do with OPEC slowing production?

  • Some of it is OPEC, but some of it is that they've evacuated the refineries and drills in the gulf in prep for Ike....so while OPEC is voluntarily producing less, the Gulf Coast refineries are being forced to halt production.  Stupid storm.  Why doesn't my car run on pocket lint?
  • It's OPEC slowing production and other groups freaking out over what Ike will/won't do.
DH filled up my tank on Monday, and it's still close to a full tank. Hopefully that'll last for a while.
Can't help but compare this to the 70's-my Mom still tells stories of waiting in line @ gas stations where she lived in FL. She'd get up to the pump and be told they were closing. She'd have to tell the guy she was a student  (which she was @ USF) and he'd drop the rope behind her VW Bug just so she could get a few gallons.
Hoping it doesn't get to where it's regulated THAT much!!

  • I am a little confused about this. I expect there to be a slow down in production, but I lived in California my whole life, and this never happened. I have never seen gas stations packed like that. Does the South get their gas primarily from Texas? I hear its like that in NC, TN and GA too. My mom (in Cali) said that gas went up a little, but nothing like it has here, and no lines.

BTW, I was able to gas up at Sunoco just fine last night around  830. I guess most people had already gassed up. There wasn't even a line.

I just laughed so hard I snorted.
