Anyone want to chat about Fresno, CA?

DH has an interview for a company in Fresno.  I have been to CA 2x but never seen Fresno.  My friend from SF thinks we are CRAZY.  She said it is either close together housing developments or farm land.  I would actually love to live in a single family home on 1-10 acres.  Not a farm but we wouldn't mind living in farm area.

 

Can anyone suggest a real estate website to look at for that area?  I google'd and found houses from129-600 LOL.  I think realtor.com stinks and was hoping to find a better local site.

 I'll take any info people are willing to share.

My husband just interviewed for a firm in Fresno, so we're exploring the option as well. I went to Fresno State so I lived there for a few years. I was a renter at the time. Clovis is very near fresno and has a more country feel.

I live 40 min south of Fresno.  I don't know any real estate sites, but if you want country, Clovis is a small town next to Fresno that has more rural areas.  With the housing market down, you can fine nice houses for cheaper than normal.  Let me know if I can help more.

Check out remax.com I started there when looking for houses. I've lived in Fresno for about 17 years, so I consider this my "home". My advice, just check out the neighborhood before buying. Just like anywhere else, there are good and bad areas of town. I live in Northwest Fresno and there aren't many problems.

Hi! I am from Reedley, which is a small town outside of Fresno.  It takes about 30 minutes to get into Fresno.  I live on our family farm.  I grew in Reedley, went to college at Fresno State, and my fiance currently lives in Clovis.  If you have any questions about the area, please let me know.  I also must recommend you look into Reedley.  The housing is much cheaper, it's a darling little town, and there are lots of people living here that work in Fresno.  There are many houses out on 1-10 acres, as well as nice houses in town.  Our crime rate is low (which I know well, I work for the police department).  We have a lot of fun events in Reedley yearly...Fiesta, Street Fair, Concerts in the Park, Electrical Farm Parade, Taste of the Town, and others.  What can I say...I love it here!

I live in Bakersfield, CA, originally from Michigan. I think people from other parts of California like to demonize the Central Valley/San Joaquin area, but there are so great little pockets and the housing is relatively affordable!
