I got my brand new Droid X mailed to me. I immediately went to Verizon to buy a case, transfer my contacts, update my bluetooth device and all that jazz. It turns out that my new phone is one of the ones that has a faulty screen. It just flickers and scrolls and I can't use it. Good thing I ordered it right away... oh wait, it doesn't matter since they won't send me a new one until August. This is the first time in about 7 years that I've been unhappy with Verizon. But it's kind of a biggie. Sell me a couple hundred dollar phone that doesn't work, and then expect me to just sit tight until you can get your act together? Not cool.
My phone does something like this:

PS: I think it's kind of ironic that the "gadgets and tech" board is the only one that keeps getting an error message for me. haha!
Re: My new Droid X is useless
I left Verizon over customer service issues. They have a great network, but they don't train their staff well and just don't seem to care about customers.
I replaced a phone once, went into the store to buy it. They set it up, gave it to me, and it didn't work. I told them it didn't work and they told me it was mine and I was going to have to go to the repair site to get it taken care of. Um, no, not leaving the store with a brand new phone that doesn't make calls. I forget how it was resolved, but I left with a working phone.
After them losing my payment a couple times, not knowing how to apply my work discount, not having the types of phones I wanted (but trying to sell me one of theirs by insisting I didn't really want the features I said I wanted), I gave up and got an iPhone.
I'm still very tempted by the droid, and if they get good reviews we may switch back in a year or so. I'm just concerned that they haven't improved customer service at all.
