Ladies I need your help pretty please. Both DH and I are tired of doing the same things on the weekends. I know there are tons of things to do within our wonderful city that we have yet to explore.
So far here is my list of things neither of us has done but sound fun and cheap..
Drive up to John Penne Kamp State Park
Go to Morikami Japanese Museum & Gardens
Have a wine tasting at Schenbly Redland's Winery
Spend the day/weekend at Hollywood Beach
That's it I have run out of ideas. So what else can we do? I heard of some mall up in Broward that is right by the bay/ocean but I am not sure what it's called. Also does anyone know of any nice beaches in the Keys area (Preferably not in Key West).
TIA
Re: Help me plan my weekends
-We have enjoyed either kayaking or biking in the Oleta State Park. You can rent the equipment there and it is inexpensive.
Here are some other things we have done that I found on this website: http://traveler.nationalgeographic.com/2007/10/free-city/miami-text
-The Miami Art Museum offers free admission every Sunday and second Saturday of the month to view its collection of contemporary art.
-The Wolfsonian-FIU art museum is free on Fridays after 6 p.m.
-The Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables offers free tours of its historic grounds on Sunday afternoons at 1:30, 2:20, and 3:30 p.m.
-Admission is always free at Miami's Holocaust Memorial , open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
-Vizcaya estate on Free Sundays (the last Sundays of July, August, and September).
-Jewish Museum of Florida free on Saturdays.

Thanks ladies! I'm fairly new to the area, and we're not beach people (my boyfriend hates sand, and I'm a sunscreen goddess who stays in the shade). So we've been really struggling for things to do, especially active things that aren't too expensive.
I've been to Schnebly's... save yourself the trip! It's disgusting! If you're interested in wine tasting, I know of two places in Coral Gables that are fantastic. One is on Miracle Mile, and they have a free wine tasting this Friday - it's called Wolfe's Wine Shop and if you email jeffrey@wolfeswine.com before Friday it's free. They're doing Rieslings this week.
The other place we like is Old Vines on SW 22nd Ave at the intersection with SW 22nd St. They often do wine tastings, too! http://www.oldvineswine.com/
We used to go out hiking and biking and swimming and wine tasting in Virginia all the time. I just can't help but get the impression that everything in Miami is a) expensive and b) superficial. If I never step foot on South Beach again, I'd be pretty happy about that.
