Vacuum vent!!

I'm so frustrated! I have a Eureka power pet bagless vacuum, had it about a year. Til about a month ago, I LOVED it!! It picks up the white pitbull and cat hairs off my carpet REALLY well. But as of late, it doesn't pick ANYTHING else up! :( Not the cat litter, not bits of bones (the dog!), ONLY the hair. >:-O

I've cleaned it out, so nothing is getting stuck or stopped up. Maybe the brushes are a little?? The belt still runs (it's not broke), but I've noticed when the dammn thing vacuum is runing for 5 or 10 min, it starts smelling. WTH!?!? I'm stumped! The first 10 months(ish) with the vacuum I LOVED it! I have to clean it out a lot, but that's not a problem. But I'm getting irked at it not picking pieces up and shootin' stuff out the back.

*SIGH* Just had to vent! The dog got bone pieces ALL over the carpet and I couldn't get them all up, ended up having to SWEEP them! ARGH!!!! If anyone has any magic vacuum tips to try, I'm all ears!!

Re: Vacuum vent!!

  • Mine does the same thing. I have to clean the filters really well. We have a Bissell powerforce bagless. There is only 1 filter to replace and the others we have to rince out. We have 3 dogs and a cat so we asre no stranger to pet hair. I also found a piece of plastic wrapper in it one time that was preventing the suction from sucking. I hope that helps

  • wifey, I think it's time to get a replacement filter (but then again, that wouldn't affect the sucking, would it??). Also I think I have to take apart the bottom/sucking/belt area and see if something might be stopping it up. Ugh. Just what I wanna do! Thanks!
  • The filter might affect the sucking.  When H and I moved into our duplex the people before us left a really nice bagless vaccum in the garage.  My dad turned it on and it didn't suck anything up.  But he took it home and cleaned it up and replaced the filter and now it works perfectly!
The filter might be worth a try before you have to tear the whole thing apart.

  • yup as a matter of fact I had to do mine today. It wouldnt pic up bird seed so I made sure nothing was clogging it and then took the filters out. I banged them on the all outside the house cuz I didnt want to rinse them. It works great now.

I would definately try the filters first before you throw in the towel. It may be all it needs.....let us know how it works.

  • We just got that same vacuum for a wedding gift! We're loving it right now...hopefully it keeps working well. I don't know much about vacuums, but let us know if you figure out what is wrong with it.
  • OK, I just washed the filters out really well. (I had 'cleaned' them, but not washed the main one, thinking it can't do THAT much good, buuut). I also just realized as I've been browsing online that the self-propel feature hasn't been working too! (Which I didn't realize/think about that) I have NO clue how that feature even works! LOL I thought it was super cool, hmm.... well, the filters are drying in the sun (In 110ish AZ sun, maybe 5 or 10 min!) so we'll see what happens in 10 or 15 min!

LOL Thanks for listening to my crazy vacuum rants! ;-D

  • You might think about taking it to a tune-up place. We had a Bissel Steamcleaner that was super recommended and after about three months of use, it stopped working so well.

We tried checking everything out and it all checked out. After getting it a tune-up, it worked like new again.

Although, I'm not sure how much  yours costs, it might be cheaper to just get a new one. :/

I think our tune-up was about $35 but we had a warranty as well.
