Thinking of Moving to Bay Ridge
Hi! I'm new to the site. Married about a month and love all the blogs! My Husband and I are thinking of moving from our Upper East Side teeny tiny studio apartment to Bay Ridge Brookly where we are noticing that we can get a 2-3 bedroom apartment for the same price. Anyone have any advice for us on this neighborhood? We've only visited once and want to start looking to move in a week or so. Thanks!!
Re: Thinking of Moving to Bay Ridge
it's a cute neighborhood with an almost-suburban feel, IMO. we looked at purchasing there, and very nearly did. the reason we did not buy there is the commute, which involves long stretches of sitting on the R train. i have several co-workers who live there, and they all drive to work because it's faster than sitting on the train.
there's a beautiful stretch of shore where you can run/walk/bike, and watch the sun set by the verrazano bridge. ...and some FRIGGING GREAT italian food!

I live in Bay Ridge and LOVE it here. It definitely has a nice suburbs feel to it (many tree lined blocks) - tons of great restaurants. Essentially, everything is within walking distance, and we have tons of mom and pop shops still.
The R train was mentioned, and I can tell you that I take it everyday and it runs like clockwork - and you can get into Manhattan in a half an hour. You also have VERY easy access to the N train (express) on 59th street in Bay Ridge and that will get you into the city in NO time. So dont let that deter you.
I think you guys should go for it!
