Was this mean of me?

One of my brother's nurses that comes twice a month called and asked if it was OK if she came over ina  few minutes. I told her it was fine but asked if she could be quiet when she gets here because the baby is sleeping. My brother's home health care worker told me I was a jackass for saying that. I didn't mean it in a mean way and didn't even think twice about saying it but now I feel kind of bad.

Do you think it was mean for me to say that?

Unless you took a snotty tone or something (which I'm assuming you didn't), then I don't see any problem with asking her to be quiet for the baby!

I think the HHC worker is the jackass for calling you a jackass!!

I think it's fine, I would rather be told to keep it down ahead of time than to wake up a sleeping baby

I don't think it's mean, and I wouldn't be offended. If you are going to someones home to give them care then you should be respectful of their environment. You have a small child the nurse should understand that and be considerate of it.

I agree with the PP. I dont think it was that rude or mean, in fact I think it would make everyones day easier to have that information rather than to throw a fussy babe into the picture.
