ok my cousin is getting married next month (I mentioned it before, I know).  She met this guy online and sent out the invitations before she even met him IRL.  It is all very sudden and random.

Anyway, I checked out her registries (which were listed on the invitation - classy) and they are all RIDICULOUS!  I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be buying you an IPOD speaker dock thing or a flat screen TV for your wedding.  There was nothing on any of the registries that I would consider buying.

So that said, what was your favorite gift you received for your wedding in about the $20 price range, since we'll have to be traveling out of state with hotels and other related expenses.  Give me some ideas!

You sew right? I'd make her a small basket with an apron (cute fabric), recipe box and cards (I've seen these in the dollar section at Michaels) and a couple of spoonulas with maybe a cute saying about nesting in your own kitchen? I'm uber cheesy like that but I'm sure it would be well received! I didn't get something like that but to answer your question, I love my microplane!

Honestly, you can't go wrong with a nice serving dish of some kind.  I know I always can find something like that at every price point at The Royal Standard.  Do ya'll have something like that up there?

Joeysgirl, I'm learning to sew, that would be a great gift to give in the future, once I'm a little more "practiced" at this!  Once Elise's birthday dress is complete, I'll share the pictures.  I'm proud of it, you can actually tell it's a dress!  AND it's lined!

You are both grossly underestimating the high entertainment value of weddings like this.

I agree with the high entertainment value, but having to spend a bunch of money on a hotel and travel, well, that might deter me from going if I thought this was a sham of a wedding.

yeah, I do sort of feel like it's a sham of a wedding, but the entertainment value will definitely be there (so will my camera!!!) and DH and I are looking at it as a little mini-vacation and a chance to get to see some of my family that we only get to see once a year or so.
