    I'm not sure. I was trying to figure that out, too. I haven't seen anything on them, but something is getting to them.

  • Actually, I think the flower is a hollyhock.  Does it grow straight up and is really tall?  See the pictures below:

  • We have the exact same thing and we were also told it was a hibiscus, but I think you might be right about it being hollyhock! It grew straight up about 5 feet. It overwintered well, too. Survived about a foot of snow :P

  • Hollyhocks are very hardy.  They will get seed pods that are filled with seeds.  My greandmother used to have tons of them.  If I remember correctly, they will also spread.
  • My vote is that is a hollyhock.
