I made this desk from knock-off wood. But I customized some of the measurements and it was going fairly well until... we brought it from downstairs where I was making it, to upstairs in the office. The legs completely fell off of the top. I thought I had done everything so well. It seemed so sturdy downstairs and I guess that I didn't use enough nails. So. We cut off all the nails and I reassembled it, this time in the office. Once we're ready to put the top back on it wasn't fitting right. Finally get it on. I think the floor is heaved in the place where it wasn't fitting. I am sitting at my new desk and it is very pretty but it is too tall (because of my custom measurements). Which I very adamantly told DH it is not.
I'm just a little bummed. I think I'll have to buy a chair. Which I'm okay with but DH, not so much.
Re: Woodworking Fail
How very enterprising of you! Seriously, I give you huge kudos just for trying. I think you should post a pic.
I guess you can't just shorten the legs a bit?
I will post pics once my office is all done. Right now I have one of our dining room chairs in there and it's working well so far as the height goes.
The only problem with the desk right now is that the front is not staying shut. It stands ajar about a quarter of an inch but because that's right where my arms are it bothers me. I'm going to email Ana to see how I can fix that. Plus I need to put another coat of paint on it because I had to renail it.
I put felt feet on it so it stands off the floor enough that the doors open fine.
I will say that it is pretty!
