Hello everyone.
I have a question. I have a iPhone 3Gs, and recently did the new OS4 update through iTunes. Ever since then, I have been getting this pop up on my phone stating "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone". I am not sure what is going on, I have done the troubleshooting updates and its been doing this more and more. I haven't dropped it into water or anything, so I don't know what is happening.
Is there anything that I haven't done right with the download? I am close to taking it to an Apple store, but it is over an hour and a half away from where we live, so I have been putting it off.
ETA: I don't know the kind of phone I really have... ugh.
Re: New iPhone OS4 update question...
Well, the first link that came up when I googled "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone" shows that a lot of people are having this issue, and that it might be related to getting water in near the port.
Reading through this thread (opens on page 3) it seems like people are having success by cleaning out the port at the bottom of the phone, either with canned air or a clean, soft toothbrush. That's worth a shot.
If that doesn't work, I'd say your best bet is to arrange for a call with Apple Support if you can't get into an Apple store easily.
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
