Nightmares

How often do you have them?

I had two last night (think I'm a little stressed out...need cocktails tonight...). Well, one I jokingly refer to as a nightmare. My IL's showed up unannounced to work in the yard before H and I even woke up. MIL wanted gerber daisies everywhere, and FIL was mowing...naked.

The other was a true nightmare. There was a whole lot going on--a friend, a coworker, and random students were all in there. At one point in the dream, I was cleaning out my pores and an insect came out. While I was freaking out about that, I realized that Extra, one of my cats, was sleeping on the bathroom counter. But she wasn't. It was only half of her. The other half was in the living room. I woke up hyperventilating at the point in the dream where I was holding her two halves.

It woke H up and I made him hold me like I was a child. He called Extra into the room (yes, we have a cat that answers to your call, it's so weird) and she got on the bed and laid down next to me. I didn't go back to sleep and just laid there with my hand on her, so I could feel her breathing.

It was all so vivid. I usually remember something about my dreams, but these were SO real. I hate that crap. It's going to bother me all day.

Re: Nightmares

  • I only have them when I'm really stressed out. They are all usually of someone chasing me along with a group of my friends. Like some sort of scary movie. They are awful.

I hope your day gets better and that you sleep better tonight. Good luck with your presentation!

  • I have them occasionally.

The one I'll never be able to forget was a few years ago when I still stayed at my parents' house occasionally. My sisters and I were at my grandparents' ranch and playing around the ponds. We all went back to the house, but once we got there, I couldn't find my littlest sister, Tori. I searched and searched and just happened to look out at the pasture to see Tori fall off the pond dam into the pond. Only... it wasn't a pond. It was a pit of lava. I started running and no matter how fast I ran, I couldn't get to her. I eventually woke up while I was running and was so incredibly freaked out that I had to go get in bed with Tori just to make sure she was okay. I slept with her for the next 3 nights. Even now when I think about it, it scares me shiitless.

  • Ugh, that sounds horrible. Sad I have nightmares occasionally, but not really creepy - usually I am trying to protect my kids from something bad or we are all running away from something.  I have been having dreams that are not scary but really bizarre lately.  I think maybe it is related to hormones because DS recently weaned and I think my hormones are re-regulating or something.  (And yay, yay for cocktails! Geeked)
  • I wouldn't call mine nightmares but I do have some pretty vidid dreams.  They are usually related to something that has happened during the day.
