Wellness Wednesday... on Thursday as usual

I can't believe I forgot to post this yesterday!  I have been so excited to share my progress and things got crazy yesterday.

Anyway, my week at the beach definitely got me motivated again.  So I officially joined weight watchers and can't wait to see the number on the scale on Sunday.  For the first time in probably over a year I'm following the program wholeheartedly (both diet and exercise) and am excited to start seeing results.

Spiritual health-  I found a church that I think (and hope and pray) will be a good fit for DH and I.  A neighbor goes there and loves it and DH is happy they have an evening service.

Financial health-  DH and I have been avoiding giving our finances a close look since it is a sore subject with him being unemployed and because winging hasn't been accumulating debt.  Well this past weekend we took a pretty good look and found out our food budget was Out Of Control!  It was double what we thought it would be!  So we are now tracking that very closely and I'm hoping reducing eating out will also help with my weight loss.

  • Elissa-Sounds like your in a great place... I hear WW is one of the best programs out there-congrats!

I have been working hard lately on figuring out an exercise program that really works for me this summer. I'm now on week 5 of C25K and I'm getting really excited about all of the different 5Ks that are out there. I think I'm definitely going to make running my thing-even though I'm still pretty slow. This week I've been bad about weight lifting though -I try to do it 2 days a week, but DH ripped his tendon and is now on crutches- so I've used that as my excuse to skip the gym Embarrassed

I also started tracking calories on livestrong this past week and it's really helped me get a handle on what I'm eating and how much of it. I just hope I stick with it

Spiritual health- I actually just found a church that I like too in the area.  We will be trying that out this weekend.

Financial health- One thing I learned this summer is that I need to switch my payments from 10 months to 12 months. It's hard to go through summer with no paychecks coming in! DH is a TA so we're in the same boat here. Thankfully I teach summer school so that should bring in some extra money soon!

  • I figured no time like the present to start posting on Wellness Wednesdays!

I started doing WW again four weeks ago.  (I did it four years ago and lost 60lbs....since then have put on about 20-25...no one's fault but my own lol) I am doing it on my own....no meetings or online...because I have all the information and I don't feel like paying for it.  I'm down 10lbs in four weeks and have started cycling 4 times a week again.  I got up to 20 miles yesterday so I was pretty jazzed about that.

I'm diving full force into this right now because we've hit our one year ttc mark.  I'm trying to not focus to hard on this or get too upset.  I've made the appropriate dr.'s apt.'s and am moving forward there.  I've also started looking for jobs.  I'm just trying to stay focused on something I can control right now and stay cheerful! woohoo haha

  • Glad things are going well for you, sounds like you've recommitted yourself in many ways! Good luck keeping everything going, it's tough to keep everything in order. Our food budget has definitely gotten kind of high, too, but we usually cycle back & forth on the high/low sides so I'm sure it will balance back soon.

I've decided this summer should be declared the "summer of gluttony". I was gone most weekends in June/early July and it was all to events where the food & alcohol flowed! And then I was "too tired" recovering during the week to get motivation to workout. But I'm trying to set myself right and have been getting workouts in most days for the last week, so hopefully I'll be able to stick to it!

Wow!  I'm very impressed with your 20 miles.  I did 4 miles while at the beach (super flat) and I was exhausted!  Hopefully one day I'll make it up to 20.

  • I'm super awesome with my Wellness Wednesday on Friday :)

This week was actually really good.  I ran 3 times and I went on a bike ride with DH.  I also took my lunch to work 3 days this week.  I'm feeling pretty good about it.  I have had some slip-ups (hello donuts at work for breakfast), but for the most part, I've been very conscious of what I'm eating.

    Yay good week! :)
