OMG - I'm going to Australia in 9 days, alone

Hello Ladies,

I'm freaking out a bit here.  So, my employment ends next Friday and I fly out to Australia on Saturday night!  MyDH is supporting me and encouraging me on this (practically egging me on).  But I'm frightened beyond belief.  i'm sure it'll be great, but I just have to get through all the nerves leading up to it.  I've been up since 5am (went to bed @ 12:30am), with this big pit in my stomach.

So, I just had to share.

  • Why are you going to Australia? Vacation or family or something else?

Are you nervous about flying alone and making your connections?

I've never flown that far by myself but I remember the first trip I made by myself where I didn't have very long to make my connection and I was freaked out. However, I talked to one of the other passengers who told me exactly what to expect and all was well.

I hope you have a fabulous trip and that you can really enjoy yourself.

I'm going to Australia to use losing my job as an opportunity to do things that I otherwise wouldn't be able to do.  My girlfriend lives there with her husband and infant.  I'm staying with them for a week and then off on my own exploring for a week and a half.

I'm nervous about all of it....  flying such a long flight, doing it alone, being out there alone...  longest I've been away from DH and dog in 8 years...  also about the work thing.  I have an interview Friday, so i'm worried about keeping up the job search while there, worried about missing out on opportunities while I'm there.  But just felt that I couldn't wait around for people, had to go do something. (Once home, I leave on a 2 week family vacation, booked since February, with DH Smile )

I flew once by myself, but it was just to Florida, met DH there as he'd been off travelling on his own at the time.

    Thanks!

  • Wow, that is fantastic.  It's a great place and I think that you will appreciate giving yourself the opportunity.

Don't worry about the travelling alone.  By the time you get back you will feel like a pro.
