bedroom furniture stores

I need a new dresser. After our move a couple months ago, my dress is literally falling apart. I've been to Banner Mattress and Target looking for a new dresser. I either didn't like them or were too expensive. What other stores in the Toledo area are there for bedroom furniture? Are there still places where you can buy unfinished and stain yourself? I may be making a road trip to the Sauder warehouse in Archbold.

Re: bedroom furniture stores

  • Sauder is crap, it's pretty much all walmart quality anymore, I know they have a few lines that are supposed to be nice, but they are still not great. IKEA is just as cheap as Sauder and is better quality IMO.  You could check out Value City or Furniture Row, sometimes you can get lucky at Big Lots and find something decent. There is also Ashely Furniture but I think it's over priced junk, we have 3 recliners from Ashley all less than 3 years old and they are all broken in some way.
  • We went all the way to Cincinatti to go to Ikea to buy a dresser. Be careful, they are much heavier than they look!

Have you checked Craigs list? I was not too impressed with Value City last time I looked there.

Is there still a JCP furniture store up there?

  • Also, I know you would spend more but I love furniture from the Amish furniture stores. There is some beautiful stuff at the one down here. I don't know what your budget is though.

  • I haven't checked out Value City yet. I was going to stop by Furniture Row tonight. There is an Ikea store about an hour north, maybe one day this weekend I can stop by there. As for price I really wanted to keep it about $200 or less.  I know that sometimes the better quality, the more expensive. I'm cheap and don't want to spend a fortune.
  • You're going to get what you pay for w/furniture around here. Value City, JCP, Target, Elder Beerman, etc; it's all going to be pretty on the outside but quality is junk. I'd suggest hitting up estate sales/moving sales and try to find something decent for a good price. Bedroom furniture is used quite often, so you'll be glad that you got something better quality in the long run.

We don't own Ikea dressers, but have several bookcases/coffee tables/desk and they're all decent quality.

The Wood Furniture Store in Starlite Plaza is closing, maybe they have something left for you.
