My grandparents have done this before, a couple of times. It seems cool to do but not sure about doing it in the summer since it's so hot.

I went to one in CT a couple years ago, and it was sooooo fun.  Then I read that blog post, and it just seems like a great event to host (once the house is totally finished).

I have been to a couple and they are always fun in the end...you just have to get past the pig looking at you.  The worst one was when I was about 15 I went to my friend's house and they were roasting Pinkie a pig that they had since it was a piglet.  It was raised to be a momma and eventually be roasted (they live on a farm) but my best friend and I knew that pig for years.

And this would be why I rarely eat meat!  Can't stand seeing something that looks so *real* when I'm about to eat it.

ewww. i mean, i eat meat don't get me wrong. but if i actually think about what i'm eating it makes me feel really horrible so i try not to think about it, and looking right at little porky would probably make me cry

I went to a wedding in Baltimore this summer, and that's what they did for the food.... We had the luxury of sitting kind of by the food table and got to see the whole pig being roasted and cut up... It wasn't very appetizing. And really weird for a wedding.

I've always wanted to do this as an actual luau party. I too hate looking at the animal so I would let someone else do the cooking of the actual pig but otherwise I'm always down for a party

We don't eat the pig but a luau type thing would be fun especially at night because you could go all Hawaiian and bring out the tiki torches and hibiscus floating candles in the pool? super cute

My mom and her family are all originally from Hawaii and her uncle once he moved to San Diego and had a "pig rosting" pit in the back to have traditional luau's i was never a fan of seeing the pig come out of the ground though i always felt bad for it... but if i didn't see it and then it was carved then i was good
