Hey Ladies,
This isn't my local board, so I hope you don't mind me dropping in with a question. I'm the maid of honor in a wedding next month and am trying to plan a bachelorette party in West Hollywood from across the country. It's much more difficult than I expected. I've got a hotel and a restaurant for dinner, but now I'm looking for bars and nightlife for after dinner. It's so hard to know what's fun and what isn't if you aren't from the area. We'll be staying on Sunset Strip and we're up for dancing and drinks, but don't want to go anywhere too pretentious. Bars without a huge cover charge would be nice, since we might not want to stay in the same place all night and everyone is on a budget. Also, it's on a Wednesday, so someplace that stays busy on weeknights would be great! I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks so much!
Re: Nightlife Question
I'm totally the wrong person to help you...
I went to the Sky Bar once. It was fine. That's pretty much the extent of my nightclubbing experience. I'm more of the restaurant type. Good luck! I'd probably just choose a place off the internet or out of the pages of US magazine. lol
Cool, I'm a vegetarian too!
If you want something walking distance to Hugo's there is Barney's Beanery which is pretty famous. It's pretty fun. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison all hung out there. Check it out online.
Hugos is right in the middle of the "gay" area, so there aren't that many straight bars.
Near the hotel there are loads more bars. There is Cabo Cantina, the Den, Sky Bar, The Terrace at the Sunset Tower hotel, there are so many. It'll be pretty easy to get into any place on a wednesday, but they will all still be crowded.
Have so much fun and feel free to ask me anything else!
Thanks for the suggestions! Is there any place specific that you would recommend for dancing? I think ideally we would like to go to a bar or two just for drinks and then end up somewhere with a dance floor. I looked at all of these online and since many of them seem like bar/restaurants I wasn't sure if they would would be appropriate for a big group of girls celebrating a bachelorette party. Also, I've read a few reviews that say you need to be on the list to get into Sky Bar- is that true?
Thanks again!
I am never on a list for sky bar, but you never know. . . doormen can be very fickle.
As for dancing, there isn't much stuff walking distance to your hotel. You could cab ride further east and go to some of the clubs in hollywood.
Try Les Deux, Green Door, guys and dolls, or my house. Check their websites. You may be able to get on the guest list on the website.
I'm a vegetarian too. Hugos is pretty good.
I would suggest taking a short cab ride from Hugo's down Santa Monica to Boystown. Gay clubs would be tons of fun for a bachelorette party. You can start at Fiesta Cantina and move onward to the Abbey and Rage.
