System Restore vs. Reformat
What's the difference? My computer guy mentioned reformatting if I continue to have problems with viruses, but I just found on my old computer a feature called System Restore. Would that do the same thing? Would I still need a Vista CD for that?
Thanks!
Warning
No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
Re: System Restore vs. Reformat
I could be wrong but from what I know a format means that they literally wipe the drive. As in BLANK. You would then need to install vista and any other programs back onto your computer.
With a system restore, your old system would just be replaced with a new system. (ie it's doesn't wipe it, so much as "overwrite").
Like I said I could be wrong, if you're talking a virus though you might need to wipe and THEN restore. (as long as it's a backup copy before it was infected. )
System Restore = "going back in time" to a point where your system was not having trouble (usually tried first - shouldn't need a vista disk). Essentially restoring your system to a past state.
Reformat = delete everything off the disk and start fresh (would need a vista CD). If your system is really screwed up this might be the best solution.
