Words with Friends....Etiquette on re-match??

Does the winner or loser instigate a re-match? Or does it matter?

Here's my problem....I am either good, lucky or my friends aren't so smart.  I mean no harm in that statement, but I have yet to find someone that can consistently beat me.  In the six months I have been playing I have lost two or three times.

Recently I started playing a friend of a friend ("D").  My friend ("L") thought we would enjoy playing one another because we both normally beat "L" by 150-200 points. "D" and I have played five games of which I have won four.  The last game ended yesterday (I won) and he did not request a re-match.  Does that means he no longer wants to play?  If he were a friend I would just ask, but it is awkward because I don't know him.  I enjoy playing him and he's the first real challenge I have had.  WWYD?  Is there an unspoken rule??

Re: Words with Friends....Etiquette on re-match??

  • I just recently found out that if you have 8 games going you can't start another game.  Someone can invite you, but you can't start one.

I usually just request a re-match, what's the worst they can say, no?

Oh, and have I played you?  I'm good ;)   angelaggie06 is my screenname

  • Ditto angelaggie.

I would just ask for a re match.

  • so my friend's husband a few months ago found out with WWF and was like let's play. he was super cocky and said he'd never lost a game yet. yea um i bet him by like 100+ points... he didn't request a rematch & i felt bad requesting one??

    nesties though... its whatever Smile

  • I always request a rematch. Up until recently I would request it but if I had won the last game I would pass my first turn (to where it is as if they were starting the game).....sorta like "you lost, I'll let you go first"...but I have an ongoing game with one of my professors that I am friends with. He made a comment once...."you won, you start a new game"...so it made me question that maybe I was doing the wrong thing. Half the time I'll start a new game (just to make sure one gets started) and pass my turn anyways. ..haha

i honestly don't think it matters. we're all grown ups Smile except lame cocky boys i play who don't like to be beat by girls!

haha...I just thought I had missed the etiquette boat on WWF when he said that so I do it both ways now. I'm just OCD about making sure a game gets started- heaven forbid I not have a bazillion games going at once...haha

  • I've never given any of this any thought at all!  Maybe I am rude and have no idea.  Embarrassed  If I like playing with someone I'll ask them to rematch whether I know them or not.  The times I feel bad are when it's been awhile since I've played and I'm playing people I know.  (Sorry if that's any of you and you're waiting on me right now!) Stick out tongue

  • I am always worrying about WWF etiquette! As far as rematching ... I've started just always rematching. I found out recently that some people cannot start new games if they have too many going. So if one needs restarting, I do that. If the person doesn't want to play, they can decline.
  • I always rematch people I know (IRL, Nesties, FB friends), but not the ones that I have it randomly select for me.  There's supposed to be etiquette involved?

  • I can't rematch anyone b/c I have too many games going, but if anyone is playing a game with me and it ends, PLEASE rematch no matter who won.

I agree with that statement.  Although, I admit I'm NOT that good, but she's consistently beating me by more than 100 points.

I think my down fall with the game is I go for maximum letter usage.  If I can get in a double or triple then great.  And I'm horrible at the two letter words that make 3 words at once.  Plus that's kind of a pet peeve of mine because it general shuts the board down.  Then I just get frustrated.

  • I also say it's totally up to you to rematch if you wanna. No realy etiquette involved.

I love to play, too -- my name is Editard if anyone is looking for a match!

  • Thanks everyone.  I will re-match him and see what happens.

I must also note.....I haven't played any nesties.  Maybe my winning is over.  Smile

The people that posted their user name I will send a request to play, and anyone that wants to play me please send me a PM and I will share my name.  Not that it is a big secret, but when setting up my WWF account I used my yahoo email prefix.  While it is now my x-last name (went back to maiden after divorce), there are only 20 people in the US with that last name and it takes away some of my anonymity.

  • I'm Leigha23 on WWF. You can send me a game! :)
