Recommend mortgage broker/REA?

Hi! DH and I have decided we want to start looking for our first home. We live near Raleigh, have been here about 2 years, and don't really know where to start.

We've been to the State Employee Credit Union (where we are both members), but thought it would be good to check out a bank and a mortgage broker too, to compare more options. Any suggestions on where to go or who to talk to in the area?

Also, any particular real estate agents you recommend (or suggest we steer clear of)? Thanks in advance!

    For a mortgage broker I would strongly suggest Hugh Page.  He was great at explaining all of our options and really finding the mortgage that fit us best!  His Office number is 919-874-7557 and his email is hpage@fmlending.com.

    As for realtors, I strongly recommend Becky Davis.  She is just amazing and very, very knowledgable.  She represented us when we bought our house and 6 of our friends who all also had great experiences.  Her email is bdavis@fmrealty.com

    As far as an REA, I highly recommend Jill Flink (http://www.jillflink.com/). She just knows her stuff so well and worked on New Years Day and Sundays for us and was always within reach. She actually found some errors in the listing of the house we were interested in and had the manager of the seller's REA step in to fix things and get a room licensed that wasn't.

    My mortgage broker is Lana Wray with Prime Lending,  she is AWESOME. We were first time home buyers and worked with her for almost 2 years to prepare financially to buy a home and when the time came she walked us through each step. Met us at closing and then even drove out to our works and congratulated us with a gift. She is truly a good person (and avid animal lover), and I loved working with her. I was referred to her through a friend, and I recently referred Luckygirl from this board, but I don't know how she liked her (haven't heard).
