ISO Party blogs

Anyone have any party blogs that show a man's 30th birthday?  Im hoping to get ideas for DH's by looking at ideas and pictures.

I came across this: http://www.hostessblog.com/2010/04/real-parties-grumpy-old-men-birthday/

And, while the pics and ideas are awesome they really are just too awesome and glamor-ish- if that makes sense.  Sort of out of reach, especially since DH's birthday is right before Christmas.

So, if anyone has any blogs showing guys bday parties along the lines of a guys day please share.  Thanks!

Re: ISO Party blogs

  • No help here but I wanted to say that that is my biggest pet peeve with most party/hostess blogs.  They are great for over-the-top party eye candy but rarely could I whip together something like what they show without buying all new linens, tableware, serveware, vases, stemware and about $500 worth of flowers.  Not to mention tents, tables and lighting.

If someone has recs for realistic party blogs, I'd be interested.

  • I don?t have any recommendations for blogs that feature ?grown-up? parties but the party planning area is something I?m really interested in and have taken on as a hobby. If you?d like some help planning, I?d love to send idea?s your way and help you plan. If you'd like, PM me with the ideas you have so far and a little bit more about the type of party you envision.

Thanks ladies, a grown up realistic party blog is something the blog world really needs!  Ahem ;)

Im thinking about planning a guys night for DH and his friends (not on his actual birthday) at a local casino/hotel.  I just dont know what else to plan for him- they will do the gambling and eating Im sure...but what else can I do/make?

I dont want to do a party, he doesnt care much for those anyway-especially not surprise ones.  Im wanting to do more of a guy's day/night, kwim?

Amen: they make me feel inadequate.

  • If it is going to be a true ?guys only? I feel like your efforts would be wasted if you got too crafty. You could probably pick up some alcohol, some cigars and some ?guy snacks? like chips, nuts, and jerky and you?d have a happy group of men. If you wanted to put a little more effort into it, you could put personal labels on the bottles of booze, ?Dan?s Dark Brewed Beer?, ?John?s Smooth Scotch? or ?Over-the-hill-at-30 Moon Shine?. You could make party bags with the snack items and cigars and add other things like disposable cameras and decks of cards. Another idea is to arrange for soft pretzels to be delivered to their room while they are out gambling so when they come back from drinking and gaming, they have something to soak up the damage.

Those are great ideas!  I was thinking about doing beer cozies-personalized and the snacks are a great idea too.  You are right about the crafty stuff, LOL guys really dont care about that kind of stuff.  I like the labels on the alcohol, especially incorporating 30 into it.  I might do cupcakes/cake or cookies too...

Thank you for your help :)

  • Also, just saw this. The "Queen of Heart" invitation (second photo) would make for a fun and easy DIY invitation for your event as well.  Obviously yours would be masculine and use the King of Spades! Stick out tongue
