Exterminator question (re chemicals outside)

We have a big carpenter bee problem and didn't get around to dealing with it, until the other day I noticed huge holes in the wood trim on the house.  Anyway someone came and sprayed basically most of the roofline with liquid and then also used powder on some of the holes.

It didn't even occur to me to ask, but I have some tomato plants right under the roofline.  Some of the chemicals probably dripped down, and even if not then, it is raining now so it is probably washing chemicals down on to the plants.

The guy said the stuff is harmless after it dries, and I do have the chemical info, but what would you do?  Just toss the tomatoes when they grow?

(BTW.. I wouldn't be devastated.. I have three huge plants that I basically wanted to grow for my toddler so she could witness the tomatoes growing.. just bummed assuming she prob can't eat them off the vine :(

Re: Exterminator question (re chemicals outside)

  • What was the chemical?  If it was pyrethrin I'd be fine eating them since that's natural.  If it was something else, I'd probably look up how it was created and go from there.
