Father of The Bride much?

So last night I talked to my dad on the phone and he shared the news that my step mom is pregnant! My dad is having a bit of a hard time with the news, he just turned 50 this year and his daughter just got married, he thought he was done lol. Apparently the wedding weekend was fun for everyone:)

I congratulated them of course, and am truly happy for them. I love babies! But this is going to be a bit strange if DH and I decide on TTC soon.

I'm not a stranger to having young siblings. My mom had my baby sister while I was a senior in HS. But this is definitely different.

Anyone have experience with anything like this?

Wow! Congrats on the new addition! I would be in shock if that was to happen to me or my MH! I mean I would be happy, but that would be hard if you were TTC at the time.

  • I would be shocked!  I always feel so bad for babies that are born to older parents because how can a 60 yr old run around with their kid?
  • i would be happy for them but a little freaked out to. then i would start cracking jokes.

  • That is really crazy!!!  No experience myself but my boss has a cousin who's the same age as his son which is kind of crazy.

And hey, at least if you do have a kid close in age to your brother/sister they'll have a playmate and your sibling can make them call them auntie or uncle.  Haha!

  • At this point, I'd really be weirded out by it if that happened w/my parents, but since you love babies, congrats to your fam.  So no, no exp. w/anything like this.  How old is your step mom??  Cuz unfort., if she's close in age to your Dad, her body might not be able to handle the baby or she could have lots of complications.

She's in her early forties I think. It's not her first child so she should be alright.
