**** Zora51 ****

ok, so I started a new post so we wouldn't take over the other one hahaha.

lol that is to funny how your hubby talks A/C all the time... CJ does to and I am actually surprised with how much I am picking up on.  He get's so excited talking about it and the stories he tells me... woo wee!!!

That is right he works for Day and Night and he has been there since March, before that he worked for his dad's company.  He has been doing A/C for 6 years over all... he just loves it, he is always showing me these tools he wants to get, he just got some digital gauges and he was all excited I had to go ouside to our unit with him while he hooked them up to show me how they worked hahahaa.

That is pretty cool that you guys have your own company, it is something that will always be a need here in AZ.  I think there was another girl on here, she doesn't post very much, dani I think her name is her ubby works for their family a/c business. lol

  • Very cool!! hahaha Yes, Chuck is always telling stories, and I 'know' a bunch of their customers by little tag names or sometimes by their real names cuz he'll tell me "Oh, I did a check-up at so-and-so's!" haha I know all the crazies who're customers too! Oh oh, does CJ ever lose tools?? Chuck is soooo bad (in my opinion!) about forgetting smaller tools in people's attics. Like he goes through at least 3 little digital thermometers a year! I'm always scolding him about it, but I try not to cuz he hates getting ragged about it. Wink

That's cool you're picking up on a lot! When I started learning stuff (or really just listening to his stories!) I didn't think I'd ever be able to learn anything about it! I've never known anything mechanical or electrical, but actually, I'm pretty good at the stuff! I know all the mechanics of most units, and am getting the electrical stuff too. Chuck will call me up at a call sometimes and tell me how it was when he got there and make me try to trouble-shoot it. Smile And yeah, Chuck loves it too! He's been with Weather Masters for 3 years, and worked doing installations (less pay, more physical work, yuck!) for 7 years before that.

With our company, Chuck figures he's not going to be able to do this stuff forever, so building up our own and eventually him managing it (not doing any of the hard physical stuff) is the way to go. I'm great at the administrative and bookkeeping side, so I do pretty much everything else! I've designed our invoices and do our marketing, etc. We're planning to finally get our own van this fall so we can [try to] go full swing into the company next summer! It's a lot of work, but I think will be worth it! Nice to talk to another (soon-to-be) wife of an A/C guy! :-D

  • OMG CJ loses tools ALL.THE.TIME!!! hahaha he just went to a customer house the other day to pick up his drill that he left on her roof! hahahaha i think the heat get's to them!  I know when he tells me someof this stuff i am just like well couldn't you by oass this to get this until you can get that part to fix it completely so they at least have air for now. hahaha what would they do without thier trouble shooters! hahaha

Yea, Cj likes getting in there and getting dirty but it is just so hard on their bodies that i worry about him.  He helps out wiith the installs every once in a while when they need him.  but he likes doing his own thing.

Does Chuck every tell you about peoples houses... CJ came home the other day and he was all "Babe, this house should have been on that hoarders show and the coil was so dirty it was litterally cloged with dirt!" or "they haven't changed their filters in three years... THREE YEARS babe can you believe that!" hahaha

I think it is great to talk to another A/C guy's wife! hahaha most people don't get my stories about the life of an A/C man! hahahaah

  • YESSS, good, Chuck's not the only one then! (Who loses and forgets his tools). If it's a regular customer, he'll tell me "Oh, I'll get it when I do their next check-up!" :-P But he definitely DOES have to go back for some tools (like forgetting his drill?!?! CJ!! haha) The heat gets to them... you're probably right!!

I worry about Chuck all the time! Working with high-voltage, and he tells me how he'll climb the ladder with 1 hand carrying his tools (or worse, a jug of refrigerant or an acetaline tank for soldering!), AND talking on the phone!!! It scares me! And then of course, you have the spiders, snakes, bees, and whatever else sometimes lurks in units! Oh, and when they have to go on a roof with a really steep pitch. ALWAYS worries me. Eek! :(

I just read your question to Chuck - "Does Chuck ever tell you about peoples houses".. he laughed and said, "YES!" Yeah he does... disgusting smokers houses with coils that are so filthy he can barely breathe while cleaning them! Tells me about their kids, their pets, haha - hot housewives. He always mentions if the ladies are hot (he's funny like that, but he knows I'll just laugh and shake my head). He always tells me about the conversations with people too. Does CJ do that? Like meeting old football players retired here, and all kinds of random stuff.

You're right, people don't get the whole life of an A/C guy! :-D It's fun to compare with another wife! hehehe

  • OMG the animal stories are the worst!!!! he had roof rats in a unit not to long ago hahahah yes he said the smokers house's are pretty nasty... I worry about him all the time with being on the roofd and ladders and how if there is like another area he has to get to how he has to carry a ladder up the 24 ft ladder ughhhh freaks me out, and you right the steep pitch roofs are crazy, how do they even stand up there! haha  Cj tells me about all his conversation.  I guess the other day some cougar was hitting on him and him and this other guy just looked at her like she was crazy.  I told him she must like a man in a uniform! hahaha  he just recently helped on an install at one of the sun's players house and how cool the body guard was and all about that... it is seriously one of his most favorite stories to tell so i have heard it more thena few times! haha.

So does Chuck wear his gloves like a good A/C guy or does he come home with crazy dirty hands? hahaha Cj more often then not comes home with crazy dirty hands hahaha CJ is always saying that the gloves get in the way... "of what the dirt? good that is what they are suppose to do!" lol is usually my answer hahaha

  • YUCK!! Do you ever go with to any calls? Sometimes when he's on call on a weekend, I'll go along (I know the owners and bosses and they're cool with me coming as long as I don't go on a high roof or put myself in danger on a job site), and about a month ago we went to this rich guy's place in Scottsdale (7 units!!!), and 3 units had wires chewed from rats! Yuck! We ended up seeing a live rat, a dead snake in a unit, wolf spider carcasses EVERYWHERE (AHH!!), and bees making a hive in one of the openings in the wall for pipes! Holy cow!

LOL about the cougar. Chuck always laughs that he's too dirty for any of the hot cougars to actually hit on him seriously! And it's true, he DOES get pretty filthy! As for gloves, he generally wears them (especially right now when hot metal door panels can literally burn you!), but his gloves are made with only half-fingers on the thumb, index, and middle fingers, so he gets WAAAY dirty (black fingers that never quite come 100% clean!). He's cut his hand before (about 8 stiches maybe 6 months ago??) without his gloves on, so he generally tries to wear them! but they don't keep dirt out. If CJ wears regular full gloves I could see how they get in the way! hehe Cuz picking up screws and picking between wires is REALLY hard with gloves. That's why having the cut-off fingers is important. It's almost impossible to pick through a dozen wires with gloves on! Poor CJ! Tell him to go get some half-finger ones from the parts house or even home depot (That's where I got mine!) LOL

Oh yeah, and I've heard a bunch of his stories a few times (or more!) cuz he loves to re-tell them to me! haha Oh the adventures of an A/C dude! haha

  • I will def have ti tell CJ about the half finger gloves, because even if those three fingers get dirty it is better then the whole hand.... lol Yea i wouldn't be able to handle the anmail part. lol I don't normally go on any calls with him,  I am not a huge fan of being in the heat lol hence me having an office job hahaha.

yea, he loves to tell me about the houses in scottsdale, but 7 units on one house holy moly! that is like a commercial building! hahahaaha

LOL he will call me at work and start telling me this long story about his adventures for the day... to cute how they get all excited =)

    Photobucket
  • Yeah definitely! The gloves are great (they protect their hands from getting cut on sheet metal, burned on a roof or roof-top unit, etc, but allow them to pick up screws, etc without fumbling!). Chuck used to cut off the fingers himself before they actually made ones that don't have those fingers! haha

I don't go along when it's super hot! But sometimes if he gets a late evening or weekend call and I'm bored and it's nice out, or if he knows the customer already and knows they'll be cool with me coming. haha I put on a Weather Masters shirt (he wears button-downs, but he has their tshirts too cuz he used to help out on installs a lot his first winter there, so he got work jeans and tshirts from the company) and pretend I'm his assistant! :-D

Yeah, that 7-unit house was MASSIVE!! I coulda gotten lost in it! But 7 units isn't even the biggest he's worked on! There's a mansion in the middle of Mesa (somewhere around Brown-ish and Greenfield area, I think?) It's set back among the orange groves, and it's crazy huge. He's worked on that before (but doesn't like to cuz the old lady that owns it is sooo picky and used to getting her way to a T!) Some of the rich people are super nice and some he just dreads going to. But I couldn't imagine living in a house like that. I like my 1-unit house. :-P (Maybe someday a 2 unit house! WOW! haha)

And yes, Chuck does that too, telling a long story about his day. :) I must say, towards the beginning of our relationship I only did the "uh huh, uh huh" cuz it was hard to follow all the A/C lingo! hahaha But now I truly listen. Big Smile
