How to entertain without a TV...
Any ideas? We've decided to not get cable, but we want to have lots of people over. Problem is, all our friends seem to revolve our hang out times around the tube. I now the obvious answer is board games, but those aren't really our cup-o-tea. Any others suggestions??

Wii, Apples to Apples, DVD board game (like the office game - so fun!).
We never have the TV on for our parties. And we always have our TV on while we're doing chores and stuff. People can be civilized and *gasp* socialize with each other without watching tv, which they can do at home.

Do you mean that you have people over to watch the football game (or other tv shows) or is it just on in the background?
If it is the later, maybe your crew doesn't know any different. I would try something like a wine/beer/cheese/etc tasting, but make it so that people have to compare w/ others - get them up and talking!
What about murder mystery party?
Can you have a bonfire in your yard? This would give people something to look at.
I also agree with other ideas - game night, rent a movie night, and having music on in the background.
GL and let us know how it goes!
Will you have a Wii or another gaming system? When our friends come over they like to play on our Wii. Otherwise when they come over they are just happy to drink and play cards, or just chat.
