Wow, DivaCup? Question!

Ok, so I was just reading those posts on the divacup and I had no idea it was even out there!  I'm a newbie in exploring green living, so please pardon my ignorance.

Tampons have actually been bothering me lately, which is weird.  This could be a great solution.  BUT, does anyone know if it's compatible with the nuvaring?  That is my BC method and it's been so great for me that I don't want to sacrifice that.  Hmmm, you know, I should just google this question, and I will, but if anyone has any personal experience, I'd love to know.

I'm pretty new to this board, but I already know I LOVE you ladies with all your great ideas!!!

Re: Wow, DivaCup? Question!

  • You raise a good point, but every now and then I overlap a day or two.  Not all the time, probably just a couple of times a year.  It's not too big a deal, but I was curious if anyone ran into that same issue.  :)

The Nuva ring fits up and around your cervix, right?  (I don't know much about the Nuva ring.)  In which case it shouldn't interfere.  The Diva Cup is supposed to sit lower in your vagina, and even though mine always rides up high (doesn't matter how I place it, it shifts up) it doesn't encompass the cervix in anyway.

  • My best friend uses both and hasn't had any problems.

  • From the website's FAQ:

    Q. Can you wear The DivaCup with the NuvaRing®?
    A. The DivaCup is worn low at the base of the vagina and is away from the cervix, it should not interfere with your NuvaRing?.

There is a possibility that the NuvaRing? can become dislodged while using any kind of internal feminine hygiene protection. Consequently, we recommend that you consult your physician before use of any kind of internal feminine hygiene product, including a menstrual cup.

Many of our customers use The DivaCup and the NuvaRing? simultaneously and have not reported any problems.

  • Thanks so much for your input ladies!

  • I used to use them both together (no longer use nuvaring).  They were compatible and most months i had one or two days of overlap, so in my experience it is a relevant question. Because i was paranoid, i made sure to remove it in the shower instead of over the toilet (then you can rinse and reinsert, instead of wasting the ring) on those days.  Though i have had to reinstert the ring b/c it came loose, i don't remember ever accidentally removing the ring due to using the cup.

  • I use cloth pads while on my period. Just another option to throw out there.
  • Not to rain on your parade, but I was on NR and liked it, it was convenient and didn't seem to effect me negatively...until I read recent reports that it is being reevaluated by the FDA and it has been found to leach BPA into your bloodstream. :(

Can't convince myself to continue to use NR knowing that.  Not worth possible risks.
