Re: World Cup 2018/2022 Poll
For me, I would love the have the WC come to the US in 2018. I think it would be cool if it then went to Australia in 2022.
Realistically I think one of those bids will go to Europe, so I just hope the US gets the other one.
I'd like to see the United States land the 2018 bid, but I've got a feeling that after having the WC in Brazil in 2014, it'll go back to Europe for 2018. My guess would be England.
If that were the case, I'd want the U.S. to land the 2022 bid.
I'd love for it to be in the US in 2018, but I agree with you guys - it'll probably go to Europe. I'd rather see it in England if that's the case. (wow - Summer Olympics in 2012 and World Cup in 2018 for England, if it happens to shake out that way).
If England gets the 2018 bid, definitely going for it to come to the US in 2022.
Does anyone know where in the US the world cup would be held? Are they proposing different venues for pool play or would it all be in one host city?
If I were FIFA, 2018 Belgium-Netherlands, 2022 US.
These are the host cities for both the 2018 and 2022 bid.
If you click on the sign the petition link in my siggy it will take you to info on the USA's bid. All the potential cities are listed.
This!
I would love to see it in the US especially in FL. Otherwise, I would vote for England
Re: the bolded part - It actually can't be, by FIFA rules and the rotation policy.
If Europe (which includes Russia) were to get the 2018 bid, all those in UEFA would be ineligible to bid for 2022 (ruling out Belgium-Netherlands, England, Russia, and Spain-Portugal).
I think, for that reason, the US has a decent shot at getting the hosting, as the last time we did was '94. And, with the US team's latest performance in the WC, FIFA can ride a decent tide of interest here (probably the most they've had...ever).
