I need to find bedroom furniture for Tiny. I am struggling--I hated everything at Mathis Bros (it all looked so cheap and shiny and poorly made for some reason--hello Dora bed for $998, are you kidding?)...Pottery Barn is outrageous, I won't drive to Dallas to Ikea, and Land of Nod has a limited selection. I do like the Walden bed, but with all of the pieces my total was outrageous. So...where can I find him some furniture that is nice but not Pottery Barn $3k? I love my kid, but he's just going to fvck it up with markers. So I'm all about not spending THAT kind of money.
Re: Furniture
Bruno's does not have children's furniture.
JCP may be a good choice - their stuff is really cute - but the quality isn't that great so if you don't expect him to use it the rest of his life, then you should be okay.
I've stalked Craigslist the past couple of days...found a couple of decent things but I haven't found exactly what I want. The problem is I don't know exactly what I want--I am usually a person that sees it and just knows that's it. I have been to Mathis Bros, World Imports, & PB. I'm a little leery on buying something online. I am probably going to try Galleria, JCP, Storkland, Room to Dream, and a western place on Reno. (I may want to do a cowboy room...they have cute stuff that's not ridiculous at the western stores sometimes).
RTD has the dresser that I love...
JCP does not have any furniture in store, just an FYI. I went looking for stuff there yesterday.
I also forgot to tell you about Stuarts in Yukon, it's on Main Street in the old part of Yukon. You need to check them out too. The only thing that turns some people away is that almost everything has to be ordered. (I like that I can customize that way but some don't.)
I'm browsing furniture for DS, also, and having a helluva time. Let me know what you find.
If you find a JCPenny Home Store, they have furniture in-store. I don't know if there is one in OKC, but there is one in Tulsa (71st and 169 ish). I had a living room set from there and was pretty impressed with the quality actually.
I will be updating Connor's bedroom set from toddler furniture to real furniture in the next month or two as well, so keep the suggestions coming ladies!
Check out this site: http://www.rusticoutletstore.com/index_archivos/Page488.htm. They are located on Reno and are priced very well if you want to go with a rustic/cowboy room. I plan to get my bedroom furniture from there and alot more other furntiture when we either build or move to a bigger place.
I'm there with you! M's dresser just went kapoot! Thanks BRU for crappy craftmanship. So we are on the hunt for a new dresser. All of her furniture is that dark brown espresso color so it's been pretty difficult to find a decent price dresser.
I've been checking on CL and also going to the backroom at Mathis Brothers on my lunch break. But have not found anything! I did go upstairs to look at the kids' stuff but OMG I am not going to pay over $400 for a little 3 drawer chest.
I've thought about searching through some second hand consignment furniture stores here in Norman. There's one off of Main and Porter. I figure if I find something really great priced and in good condition I could paint it any color I want.
GL to you and let me know if you find a great place.
Ami we checked out that little consignment shop this weekend. It is REALLY expensive for what I would consider junk.
And Brit - I have a really cute set of Ethan Allen furniture for sale...you would have it redone to the color you like.......
Well crap....maybe I'll look at Bill's used furniture store. I know some people who have gotten lucky there. or I may just have to throw down the cash at one of the furniture stores.
This is funny you said that because I looked up the post where you had pics of it. I really like it--Ethan Allen is nice, too. I don't need that much furniture unfortunately...just a bed and a dresser, maybe a skinny bookshelf!
They have some cool stuff! I'll def go by there--thanks Toby!
I've bought some furniture there for my house and I think it's good quality for the price.
unfinished furniture stores or used? Staining and painting is really easy. I've refinished several pieces. I am not very crafty but some friends have refinished furniture and it is really cute and distressed.
And personally, I find pb to be pretty substandard for the price.
We got our guest bedroom furniture from MB. We looked around for something that seemed decent quality but not expensive. What size bed are you looking for?
My MIL bought her TV armiore there too. I am hoping to go in and browse tomorrow evening while in OKC. I hope you find what your looking for Boymom-keep us updated!
