such a frustrating weekend

We ran into some major roadblocks in our kitchen this weekend :(  and now have to order a whole new counter top piece for our sink side. SOB Crying

When DH started laying things out, we noticed that they didn't really fit along the wall correctly.  We were going to move our dishwasher to the other side of our sink, but now we can't because there is a pipe there that we can't move.  So once we moved that back to its original spot, it threw off the layout a little, but with a spacer, we fixed it.  Then, we thought we had it all worked out (with an extra cabinet that we didn't order), and we had like a 6-inch overhang above the door of our lazy susan.  We can't fix that problem without moving EVERYTHING down 6 inches, and we would run out of counter space to cover it all.

So...we need to order a new counter top because we signed off on the measurements.  It was partly our fault and partly the stores fault.

BUT...DH has already decided that we'll just put everything in and not glue down the current counter, so that i'm not out a sink for the next 3-4 weeks.  And, he's going to use the counter we have now to make a desk for our kitchen because we keep the computer in here too!

So, I guess it all works out, but it has just been a total pain in the arse!

  • my friend that used to work at the store said to just pitch a fit and threaten to return all of our stuff...then they'll fix our problem!  She said people do it all the time.  I feel bad doing that though.  Dh would have to because I'm never good at that stuff!
