Ok, so some back story: I have sizing beads on my e-ring to keep it from falling over every 2 seconds and rolling around on my finger. The sides of both my rings are engraved, but the bottom is smooth. Also, it's been outrageously hot here lately (it was 105 Saturday!).
So, I've been having some problems getting my e-ring off because my fingers swell during the day and it's been catching on my knuckle. I can get it off, but it sucks bad. Saturday morning I put it on to go out with H to get some doughnuts at this awesome bakery. The ring goes on with some force and my finger immediately starts swelling. It's turning red and I can't get it back off. I soak my finger in ice water, hold it up to the AC vents and hold my hand over my head. It won't budge and now my finger is turning purple. It's been an hour since I put it on. We go to our jewelry store to see what they can do, but they're not open yet and don't open for another hour. So I suck it up and we go to the ER where they lube my finger up and try to pry the ring off. No good. So they have to cut (cut!) my e-ring off my finger. It was not pretty. I was able to slide my wedding band off, but they nicked it when they cut the e-ring.
Oh my god, I felt like such a dork, first of all, because 2 nurses and a doctor were in our room. (I guess it was a slow morning and I was the entertainment). They actually said it happens all the time when the weather is really hot and humid and I was lucky my ring is white gold because otherwise they have to put it in a vise and twist and twist and it takes about 4 hours! At least our jeweler is awesome and said it would probably only cost $50 to repair both rings and remove the sizing beads.
Needless to say I've been telling everyone that the jewelry store cut my ring off because I don't want to admit that I actually had to go the ER and pay my copay.
When we finally made it to the bakery for doughnuts we found out that they weren't even open because someone cut a power line at 4am. So I guess we didn't miss anything there.
The whole thing is funny now, but I was seriously crying on Saturday when I couldn't get it off at the thought that I would have to pay someone $100 to cut my beautiful e-ring off my finger. The irony of the whole thing is Saturday was 3 months to the day that we got married.

I will say THAT is why I decided against an eternity band for my wedding ring!!
I couldn't even begin to imagine what you went through! At least you'll have a funny story to tell about your three month anniversary :-)
ps - our three month was Saturday also, and yes, we were in MD roasting to the tune of 103 degrees...totally sympathize with you!
