TTD Shoot - Recap and one scary moment!

Alright...so, yesterday was my much anticipated TTD shoot with an awesome photographer in MD...

The shoot was phenominal!! I would highly recommend doing one...if you're on the fence like I was...you'll be pleasantly surprised! My beautiful gown came through with flying colors :-) A little smudge here or there, but nothing that a dress cleaner will have any trouble removing. No rips, no tears, no strings...so really, how much or how little stress the dress has depends on how extreme one would want to go...

Also, I would also recommend choosing  a day when it's not 101 degrees (or any super warm day!). That failing, drink plenty of water! Seriously! I was so determined not to cancel my shoot, that I thought "we'll be in the woods, plenty of shade, should be fine"...Well, that only works if you remember to stay hydrated, which I didn't, at first! Which led to my scary moment...

So, there I was - we had shot 5 locations, and in the middle of the 6th, I began to feel light-headed and dizzy...at that point I remembered that not only hadn't I drank any water while shooting (and sweating in a long wedding gown in 100+ degrees), that I had also skipped breakfast! Not good! So...the woods are spinning, I'm seeing white spots and feeling faint and DH and the photog are quickly undoing the back of my gown (did I mention I was also corsetted?), so that I could get air, take a drink and cool down...I just remember thinking that I didn't want to pass out in the woods in a wedding gown, and willing myself to stay conscious (or not toss) until the spell passed. I could just imaging being on the news as a cautionary tale...nah, didn't want that!

After about 15 minutes or so, I was feeling normal, cool, and ready to finish the shoot...so we left the corset undone, zipped the back and finished the shoot without incident! We took the spell in stride, and actually got shots of DH fanning me while I took a long swing of water:-) Phew! Although my Mom got on me, because the last thing she told me was to stay cool and drink water, and of course, I forgot in my excitement to be a model for a day :-)

Oh - and in hindsight...It is probably not the best idea to pose standing on a big boulder in 4 inch stilletos ( btw that was my idea, not the photog's!)...I thought it would make a cool shot, but thinking back on it, yeah, probably should have passed on that one...lol

All in all, just a really terrific time! We shot some really cool locations, and yes, even in the water (I held up the bottom of my dress)...and I'm looking forward to seeing the results...so now, I'm stalking the photographer's blog - thought I was done with that!

Re: TTD Shoot - Recap and one scary moment!

  • wow. I'm SO glad you are ok!! But please let us know as soon as she blogs you! I can't wait to see!
  • Glad to hear you had fun doing the session.  And totally agree with you on the heat thing too.  I would like to do one if the price is right - preferably in October when it cools down but isn't too cold.  However I sold my veil to a local knottie back in June!!!  So now my "uniform" is not complete.....what to do???

  • Wow! Sounds like fun except for the almost passing out! I'm glad you're ok and that you enjoyed it otherwise. Make sure to post the link when the photos come up! We'd love to see them!

Whenever I go into the spare bedroom at my house, my dress is still hanging there and I always say I'll put it on sometime. Just to sit around the house in it would be fun :-)

  • Glad you're ok! That would be scary. But at least you got some awesome TTD photos from it all, right?
  • LOL...Thanks, ladies! It was all in the name of art :-)

and speaking of the veil -  we only used it (and shoes for that matter) for the first three locations...then we shot the rest of the locations without it - in large part because it was just so darn hot! So if you don't have your veil, maybe just use a pretty sparkly hair piece - I actually forgot to bring the headband that I wore with my veil, so I was bareheaded for most of them...but hopefully they will still turn out ok!

And ladies..as soon as the blog is updated - you know I'll be back with the link :-)
