family in Houston?

Anyone else have family in Houston? My inlaws are there, but my FIL had a trip OOT, so my MIL is there alone with her two pups! I'm really nervous for her, but she said evacuating yesterday was too late and that she's just going to ride out the storm. GEEZ! She's sort of into the drama sometimes, but I think she's taking it a bit far now. I'm nervous for her anways. Just wanted to see if anyone else had family there and what they were doing? Tongue Tied

Re: family in Houston?

  • My whole family is there.  They all stayed.  The mayor told them to...so they are sticking it out.  The fled here for Rita and it was a fiasco.  I'm sure all will be fine.  I grew up there and while it rains and is very windy, the city will make it through.  Now those low lying areas along the coast are another story.  It looks awful there already.
  • Thanks! She's actually in Humble, if you know where that is. Up by IAH. So I know she is far from an evacuation zone or the coast, but I'm more scared about tornados and such. I just hope all is OK. She said the water is not draining from her sinks for whatever reason. Geez...just wish she would have come over. Thanks for the thoughts though.?
  • My family is in Spring and Woodlands.  They stayed, no reason for them to evacuate.  They will get the wind and rain and such but they are prepared.  As long as she prepared herself she will be fine.
  • I've got family in the memorial area of houston. They said there was a lot of wind and rain but no serious damage in their area. Downtown is another story. I have a friend who decided to ride it out in league city which is about 15 miles from houston and haven't had any updates from her. I hope all your families are safe and doing well!
  • I've also got family and friends in Houston.  I haven't heard from them, but they all probably stuck it out.

  • One of my friends in also in Humble and she stayed (I went to HS in Kingwood btw). She said they are fine. Just a lot of wind and the power is still out. I also have family in The Woodlands and in Spring. So far everyone is good. Just power outages. We went to Fredericksburg and had 10 Houston refugees stay out our house last night (cousins that live near Katy). We got home an hour ago and they had already took off to go back home. Hope your family is ok as well!
