If the critters keep eating your garden

I've been furious because the rabbits, deer and birds have turned my garden into a giant salad buffet. I'll lovingly watch a bell pepper or tomato ripen only to find it gone or half-eaten when I go to harvest. Anyway, dh just sent me this link and the extra product images made me giggle-snort.

Re: If the critters keep eating your garden

  • cute :-) We put a small fence up and that solved the bunny problem. Our dogs figured out how to  eat the peas from between the fencing squares though :-(
  • Haha!  That is a great idea!

When putting our garden in I totally wanted to skip the pita of digging down so the chickenwire fence is 6-8" below ground.  Now I am really thankful that we did - no critters in our garden!

  • I ended up putting up a small fence and it's helped keep the rabbits out (they still eat whatever ends up growing through the fence) but it's done nothing to deter the deer (who just reach over and eat all my pepper plants) or the birds (who fly in and peck holes in everything).

  • We lined our garden with french marigolds.  Lots of critters don't like the smell of the marigolds and it keeps them away.  We also sprinkle deer scram around the perimeter of our garden to keep away the deer.  We still get some birds but I don't mind them too much because birds will help to eat the bugs and other tiny pests.

  • This is awesome, thanks for posting!  Something keeps eating our tomatoes, this is exactly what we need.  My mom and Google told me to put a water dish out for the creature, since apparently racoons and squirrels only eat tomatoes when they're thristy.  DH really doesn't like that idea, he's like "they've got dinner and a drink out there, why don't you give them dessert and some candlelight?" This product could also be the kick in the pants he needs to fix the back hose bib.

  • I'm so mad! Now I have something eating my tomatoes (I'm guessing squirrels) and something also chewed the base of my melon vine :-( I do have a fence so that's why I think it's squirrels.
