Re: How was your weekend?
Saturday - the kids and I lolled around the house and then a friend and I took our kids to the childrens theater for a show while L went for a haircut, pedi, and massage. I took the kids to lunch and then home for a late nap. When everyone woke, we took the kids to the pool.
Sunday - L and I took the kids grocery shopping and then we met a friend for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory. He came back to our house to hang out and watch a movie - and strangely enough, the kids slept through the worst storm we've had all year.
This morning L and I got into a huge fight and when I got to school to drop the kids off, the teacher came out and told me they were closed due to power outages from the storm. Went back home to figure out what to do and ended up dropping them off at a drop off child care place 30 minutes from home and 1 hr plus from work. Got to work late and was greeted with a 4 minute long message from a screaming parent that used every word in the book at least 10x called me a mother-f'ing white ***. Yay for Monday.

My weekend started Thursday night as I took Friday off to spend time with K. So Thursday we went out for sushi and I had a lovely Tokyo Tea which immediately eased my worries. ;-) Friday was spent doing projects around the house, opening Jelly Bean a bank account, and going out for Indian food (yum!). Saturday, well Saturday was D-Day. But it was okay. In the afternoon I went to a gtg with a bunch of moms from my local board. A few of us went to Cheesecake Factory afterwards.
Geez - apparently my entire weekend was about food! Comfort food anyone? :-p
Ours was good!
Saturday we went to the beach as planned, there was a thick marine layer until about noon. I didn't put sunblock on and got a bad sunburn on one side of my face and the back of my legs (fell asleep on my stomach).
Sunday I spent testing different vegan vanilla cupcake combos, the winner is double vanilla vegan cupcake with fresh strawberry vegan buttercream. Yum! We signed up for Netflix last night and DW watched And Then Came Lola on her laptop while I watched DC Cupcakes on TV.
Two Mommies Healing Hearts
Our weekend was kinda insane and frankly I'm pretty glad it's over! I really hate being over scheduled.
Friday: After dinner, we started our car trip to my cousin's wedding. We planned to stop for the night at DW's parents house. Of course, we got stuck in some major traffic and got in pretty late.
Saturday: We woke up nice and early, got packed up to go and then headed to breakfast with the family. It was great to get to spend time with everyone, but DW's mom made it quite obvious that she wants a bio grandchild and doesn't understand why DW doesn't want to ever get pregnant. Ok, whatever!
We hit a ton of traffic traveling between my in-law's house and the wedding and spent a good 5 hours in the car when it only should have taken 2. Gah. We finally made it to the hotel, checked in and scrambled to get ready for the wedding in time. The wedding was beautiful and I am so happy for my cousin and his new wife!
Sunday: We went to the after wedding brunch with my family and spent a few hours catching up. Good times. Later, DW and I jumped back in the car for another horrendous drive home. A trip that should have taken 5 hours, took 8.5. We were ready to kill one another. It was not pretty. Then we got a call from our neighbor that his massive tree fell on my car, which was parked in our driveway. As it came down, it took out our gutters and the electrical wires. My '01 civic with only 65K miles is totaled. To add insult to injury, I've learned that since this was an "act of god" the damage goes though my auto and home owner's insurance, so hello deductibles. And hello car payment! We're without power and have live wires down in front of our house. Oh, and a huge maple tree in our backyard split down the middle and needs to be taken out. Lowest quote so far is 3,500. Highest is 6,500. Today is not a good day. I *almost* wish that we were still renters.
We spent a big chunk of the weekend driving around going to open houses. It was a surreal experience, especially because we've spent a lot of energy over the past year looking for jobs on the West Coast. I'm not sure we'll actually end up buying a house here but I'm excited that we're not putting our life on hold while we wait for the economy to rebound a bit.
Other than that, we spent a lot of time inside the house trying to stay cool. I'm having a dinner party tonight so Sunday was a big cooking day. We did manage to make it to the farmer's market and garden, but that was about it.

2brides-sorry about the sucky morning.
two-hope things are going ok. I know you can do it.
Our weekend was good. We went to the lake and swam and took E for her first ride on the boat. She was not a fan of her life jacket but liked the ride and almost fell asleep on the way back. One highlight of the weekend was the bald eagle flew right infront of us while we were sitting on the water caught a fish and ate it on a rock right infront of us. If you have never seen a bald eagle up close it is amazing. It is the first time there has been an eagle on the lake so it is a big deal. That is one mighty big bird!
This week is crazy busy for us but the end is the begining of our p-town vacation!
