I Need To Meet People

I need to start getting out of the house more. My husband and I are looking to make friends in our area. I don't really have many friendes and his friends have become distant from him, they are at different points in their lives.

We are looking for a couple who doesn't yet have children but are begining to try or planning to in the near future. We are currently trying to concieve.

My husband works almost the whole weekend, so I'd like it if I could find someone who I could go get a manicure and pedicure with or someone who likes to crochet or scrapbook. I also like to read so I'd be interested in a bookclub of a sort.

We live in Scranton. So if there is anyone out there who is in need of a friend please get in touch with me. I'm lonely an need a pick up in my social life.

I am in the same boat as you...unfortunately I am in State College.  I haven't seen a lot of girls on here from Scranton area, but hopefully someone will pop up for you!!

look on meetup.com.  my sister is newly single (getting divorced) and she's met a lot of people on there through a hiking group.  there's groups for all sorts of activities.

Can you take a class? In our county we have community education programs for adults and you may be able to meet people at one of those. They are fun ones too, like zumba, or cake decorating.

I took a cake decorating class and ended up being the only person in it other than the teacher! It was a flop.

I looked on there. I like to crochet but all the groups where a couple hours away. I tried to find a book club but there weren't any of those. I tried to start a group but they charge you! It was a great idea till I found out they charge.

Is there a NePA nest board like there is with the Knot??  A friend of ours moved to Scranton after college (he is now in state college in grad school) he joined the Jaycees and meet quite a few people that way, including his now FI.

What types of things do you like to do? If we have some common interest maybe we could meet up once a month. Theres another lady who replied and she is from SC to. Its a bit of a drive for me but once a month might not be bad.

i know it sounds silly ... but i have met some wonderful new friends through twitter. there are local get-togethers where we meet up for sushi, painting someones house, sledding, parties, anything to catch up. 

i have lived here 7 yrs and i finally feel like i am making my own friends.

I know that I used to travel occasionally to Hbg for small gtgs (with the other girls who had the same wedding date as me).  Honestly, I like "girly" things, manis/pedis, shopping.  I'm not a big crafter, it all overwhelms me!  I also like keeping in shape, things like dance classes, zumba.  Even something as simple as getting together for dinner would be great!

I wish we lived closer! The Hubby and I are in the same boat. Plus I have a ton of wedding pictures and no one to scrapbook with sometimes I need Motivation!
