Hey ladies,
Looks like we're going to have to get a new bank when we move as there are no US Bank's in NY
So, who do you bank with? Do you love them? Hate them? Are there any local (To NY) Credit Unions to check out?
Right now my favorite perk with my US Bank account is the Travel Rewards we earn. For every $1 we spend (when we use our debit cards as "credit") we earn a point. 20,000 points gets you 1 round trip flight up to $400 value for free! You'd be surprised how fast you can amass 20k points
Sooooo.. any bank accounts with perks like that, would be sweet
Re: Banks
Hm, i'm not sure about perks but i bank at Chase and really like it. DH uses Bank of America and never seems to have a problem. And we're kind of eyeing Wachovia to deposit my school loans in September...
I guess you can look up those 3 banks and see if they have any perks that interest you! Good luck!

I highly recommend my bank, First Republic. They pay for ALL atm fees, so you never have to worry about having to go to a certain atm. They don't have a ton of branches, but off the top of my head I know there is one in the Time Warner Center and a few others in midtown (I think one on 6th ave in the 40s or 50s and another by Herald Square). But... I don't really have to go there because like I said, you can use any atm for free! If you want to deposit checks, they have pre stamped envelopes and you can just drop your check in the mail.
They are more of a personal banking service, for example, when I needed new checks my husband just e-mailed his contact there and he got the checks out to us.
I do believe they have a higher minimum for opening an account, I believe it might be either $3,000 or $5,000 - I don't remember. Besides this though, there aren't any hidden fees or anything like that (at least in my experience).

I use Citibank for my personal account and they do Thank You points for using your debit/credit card. I've always been very happy with them. They had called me last year because they spotted fraudulent activity on my account (that I hadn't even seen yet) and they were quick to act on it, get me my money back, and get me a new card.
We use Sovereign Bank for our joint accounts and they've been really good too. DH does all the banking with them so I can't say too much, but he's been with them for years and is always very happy with them.
we have our savings with ING because it's got the "highest" interest. (oooooh, recession interest rates are so fun!)
we do our checking through chase, and LOVE it. there are branches everywhere, and as we recently found out, they have excellent fraud protection. somebody stole DH's debit card # when we were making online purchases from a computer that was compromised. they charged $1800 IN ITALY from the card, but chase called us literally moments afterward, asking if we were in italy, and if we made that purchase. they refunded our money immediately, voided the card, and gave us an entirely new account.
they also hooked our debit cards up to our continental miles program, so we earn 1 mile for every dollar we spend.
