Back to work...

Nothing got better but nothing got worse so the dr. is considering me "Stable" for right now. Since I am a desk jockey I am allowed to be back at work but I can't do anything other than sit or lay down when I am not at work.  I am looking at this as a temporary pass. I see the specialist on Tuesday and I am sure he'll pull the plug on work or at least cut my days in the office.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to lay down for 4 days straight? It sounds great in theory but it is killer on your back and your butt gets wicked sore. When she told me I could go from laying to sitting I almost kissed her.

So you know how you get that paper drape to put over your legs for an exam? Well she did the internal u/s to check the cervix then an on the belly u/s to look at the babies. She used the drape to wipe up the goop on my belly and threw it out. So for the last 2-3 minutes of the appointment I was sitting there with no bottoms on, totally exposed. My H thought this was hilarious.  So long, modesty!

Re: Back to work...

  • Glad to hear you got a relatively good report; I hope the specialist gives you great news.
  • I guess that's good news.  Take it easy!

I think paper gowns should be banned in doctors' offices.  It's so degrading to wear a paper dress.

  • Good news on being stable. Are they considering a cerclage?
  • No on the cerclage. My cervix isn't opening, it's shortening so I don't think that would help. I am also pretty sure I am past the point where they do that, aren't I?

As long as I stay stable and the FFN keeps coming back negative (I will get that every 2 weeks) I should be able to stay out of the hospital. If the FFN comes back positive at any point it's right to the hospital for me.

  • Glad your cervix is cooperating! I know how sore my hiney was from laying around after Owen was born, I can't imagine how awful bedrest must be.

My old OB used cloth gowns and drapes. It was so nice.

  • Glad to hear you are stable. I can't imagine having to lay down for 4 days straight. There's only so much TV to keep me entertained. I can't believe how far along you are!

  • Ooh, I'm glad you're stable!  It sucks that you can't do anything other than work, but I can't imagine how much just laying there must suck.  Hopefully if you have to go back on full BR, you'll have more flexibility as far as sitting up, etc!

Mine wasn't opening either just shortening too. But yeah, I didn't think about you being past the point of doing one and many people don't get them and do activity restrictions instead.

  • Wow, I didn't know you could use a cerclage for that. I thought it was just for opening.

It's very scary. I just want to keep these babies in.

I know CMC! Today starts the 3rd tri for me. Exciting and terrifying all at the same time.

  • Tell your cervix to get it together, man!  It has one job to do and that is to hold tight for another 12 weeks or so.
I hope things only get better for you from here on out.

  • uh oh, looks like I missed a post somewhere!

I'm so glad things are "stable" for your babies now . . . how scary!  Take it easy and I will send you lots of loooooong cervix Vibezzz.  I find out after my u/s this Friday if my doc will want me on any kind of bed rest, but I am a desk jockey also, so hopefully it wouldn't be too bad if necessary.

  • I hope this is only a little bump in the road for you and that you continue to hold steady until it's safe for your kids to come out. You can tell your babies that I forbid them to come out before mine does. FORBID. Use a really mean voice and point your finger at your cervix. I think that'll show it you really mean business.
