How bad is the flooding supposed to get?
I just heard someone say in passing that eastern Iowa is supposed to get hit really hard with flooding in the next few days. Does anyone know more about it? I haven't been around long enough to know if people are saying stuff like this all the time or if it will get bad like it did 2 years ago.
Re: How bad is the flooding supposed to get?
I would take the flooding with a grain of salt. As long as you are not in any majorly low lying areas, or living in some riverfront property, you should be okay. The rivers get high and low all year long. I watch the Rock River in Illinois ebb and flow all year.
If nothing else, you can have a bag packed if you need to "get out".
I was a bit nervous about tornado WATCHES when I first moved out here... but I've since gotten over it. When the tornado came through Elmwood, IL back in early June... we were out to eat and it was WIERD to hear the sirens going off in Peoria City/County, but since we were across the river, no sirens were going off for us. The clouds also were swirling wierd. Did I flinch? Nope! Just kept watching and hoped the resturant staff would direct us! (I have hid out in our basement once before, at like 6am, with a radio... so I'm prepared if at home.)
