Officially Changed My Name!

Well, I did it! I've officially chnaged my name with the Social Security office today. The best part - it only took me like 20 minutes - and the wait was the longest part! When they called my number, I was done within about 7 minutes!

Now, the task of changing my DL, State ID, Passport and everything else. They also changed my name at work, so everyone was like "Hey! You're now Mrs. ThXXX!" It was exciting. I even emailed myself to see if.

Cheesy story...I know.

Yay!!! I got my DL and voter registration card done today. Next is bills, school, etc.

It is fun though! I got my new DL and bank cards all on the same day and laid them all out on the table for DH to see when he got home because I was so excited

How exciting!!! It basically takes FOREVER for my work email to be changed- I have no idea why it takes so long!!

Yay!  I changed my name at the SS office but I am trying to hold off on changing it with the DMV.  I have to get a new license this year anywaysand I am too cheap to pay it twice

I hear ya Britt! I got my SS card changed, but am holding off on the DL (partly bc I don't want to get a GA DL and partly bc we may move and then it will still have the incorrect address)

It is so exciting when that new SS card comes, though. I showed H the day I got it and now I think I have all the other bills & stuff done. Now I just have to remember to sign the new name.

I know, the SS part was pretty fast and easy.

I've started getting mail with the new name, and DH the other day just saw the last name on an envelope and started opening it, assuming it was his! I was like, "Hey, that's mine!" He wasn't used to seeing that last name on mail that wasn't for him. It was cute

For those holding off on getting a new DL, you might have a hard time opening a new bank account or doing other stuff with your new name. My bank at least wanted to see my license when we opened our joint account. Not sure if a SS card would work in its place.

I wanna save my last license and state ID with my maiden name I'll just say that I lost my wallet - oh and oops - also got married and need a new name too.

Congrats! I submitted my form a few weeks ago, but got it back because I sent a photocopy of my passport card instead of the actual card. So I just re-sent it...hopefully it'll be soon!

almost everything has been changed for me besides my license and a couple of bills. it was weird to see my new credit cards come in with my married name!

Yay! Congrats! I was planning on going to the DMV today to start changing mine but they said they would take my current license away from me and cut it up and give me a paper one (which you can't use for anything other than driving) and you have to wait for 1 week to a month to get the real one in the mail and since my bday is next Thursday I know there will be dinner and drinks involved, and I don't want to be denied a beverage for my bday! So I think I'm going to try a little fib and go in there today and say I lost my current one and see how that works out!
